Walking In a Line Down the Hallway

Why do we have to walk in a line?  I understand the grade K, 1, 2 because they could wander off but why 3, 4, 5, and 6?  I think that’s really not needed, recommended, or appropriate.

When I walk in a line I feel as if I am a five year old.  Plus we don’t really do walk in a line too.  Okay, if we are behaving in a line then we should move on to not walking in a line.  That’s really fair.   Plus why lines when there is such more than a boring old line, why not a zigzag or the shape of a C, B and you can keep on going.  How do you think?

The New Driving Law

There is a new law about having your hands on the wheel at all times.  No phones or eating anything.  The only thing you’re allowed to do is change gears or to change the radio station.  So from now on, you’re not allowed to take your hands off of the wheel while you are driving.

Same with riding your bike on the road.  You have to have your hands on the handlebars at all times, no excuses.  I do not like this law because I have a really bad habit of riding my bike with one hand on the handlebars that is really hard to get out of.  You can also get a major fine for not obeying this law.  I think we shouldn’t have to do this.

What do you think of these statements?

My First Day of School

I woke up for the first day of school early, excited and a little nervous because I wasn’t sure who my teacher would be or who would be in my class.

I arrived at school with great curiosity and quickly went inside to the bulletin board where all the classes are listed and searched for my name.  I was a little surprised but very happy that once again I would have THE BIG HAM for my last year at this school.  There were a lot of my friends from last year in my class again which was good but at the same time I still missed my other friends a little, the ones that went on to grade seven and had to switch schools.  At least I can look forward to seeing a lot of them again next year…hopefully at this junior high that I really want to go to.

The rest of the day went really good THE BIG HAM seemed really happy to see us all again, as lots of us were in her class for grade four.  I joined the Lunch Supervisor program this year and it went really well.  I got a good class and will be working with a couple of my good friends so it should be fun.

I’m really looking forward to my last year at this school.  I think I’m in a really good class with a great teacher and I am going to try super hard to have a great year!

First Day Jitters!

Ever since I was a student myself, I eagerly and anxiously awaited the first day of school.  The excitement began in early August when I would bury my nose in the flyers to see what kinds of school supplies I was getting.  That "new" smell just put a happy smile on my face.  Then there were the good years where I was able to choose a new back-to-school outfit!

Today was the first day to meet my students.
Even though I’m not a student anymore, similar feelings exist as a teacher.  I imagine most teachers have the same thoughts:

•  What will my students be like?
•  Will they like me?
•  Will they listen to me?

Thankfully, today turned out to be a great day filled with familiar faces, game playing and good laughs.  I look forward to a great year.

How was your first day back?
