Presents Under the Christmas Tree

Is it just me or do presents under the Christmas tree with your name in them really bother you?  Its not bad that there are presents with your name on them.  It just bothers me that there are so many wrapped presents sitting there undisturbed. What is really annoying is the fact that my parents wont even give me a hint on what my presents are.  I know I probably sound really greedy but I hate surprises. Oh and it is really annoying when my parents put my presents under the tree because after they are under the tree my mom and dad will not stop talking about how much I will love it.  Also they wrap them so tightly I cant shake it to give me a hint. I always ask them to tell me what it is I will love but they never budge … ever. Do your parents?

Another bad thing about not knowing what you are getting is that it puts a little bit of pressure on you for their gift.  The main ideas for my mom is either bubble bath, bath salts or something that smells like lavender.  For my dad it is either socks, a shirt, a hat or a scarf. So tell me in the comments if you like a surprise for a Christmas present or some say in a Christmas present oh, and tell me if your parents talk about your Christmas presents so much you go crazy until Christmas.

Why Not Pets?

Why can’t we have a class pet at school?  I think that every class should have a class pet because a lot of people like pets and animals.  Also, I think that it would be nice to have a pet at school. You would be able to learn some responsibility just at school!  People would be able to play whether you have a pet at home or not, you would still be able to play with them if you want to.

Last year at school we had two gerbils named Thunder and Lightning.  Our teacher’s aide said that she could get a class pet so than that way we would be able to think better at school.

I also love animals because I have been growing up with animals all my life.  I had a dog named Shadow, a dwarf rabbit named Bunny.  Also, I have a bird named Maguwa but we sometimes call her Chicken, Gretchen and Miss. Grouch.  I am also very good with animals.

I would love it if every class could have a class pet so than that way every one would be happy.

I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR OPINION!

Raffles

I think we should have music playing while we work.  Maybe something that goes along with something happening that month.  If there is nothing going on that month, we would pick a name from the music raffle basket.
We could have another raffle going on along with the S.O.C.K. raffle.  “The Music Raffle!”  If you got a S.O.C.K. ticket you would also get a music ticket.  When you get a music ticket, you would write your name and room number.  If you get called, you would go down to the office and they will show you a bunch of music and you pick some.  If you don’t pick any music, they would call another person down and so on.
What do you think of that?

My Country India

Have you gone to India?  If not I will tell about it.  I am from India and I should say it is an awesome country.

There are more than fifteen languages in India.  Do you know that I know five languages?  There are more than 50 cultures in India and what do you think about India now?  Isn’t it awesome?

This country is rich in growing rice and also famous for gold.  There are hundreds and hundreds of jeweler shops in India.  It is also the second country in the world to have the most number of populations.  In India there are more than 3000 parks and recreation and wildlife sanctuaries.  In this country there are more than 40 fun lands just like marine land in Canada and some of them are Queensland, kishkintha, MGM, VGP, Kingsland etc… It is also a country that follows democracy after it had got freedom from the Britain rule.  A very important person who fought for Indian’s rights and freedoms was Mahatma Gandhi.

This country is mainly famous for its silk and clothes.  There are more than 80 different types of clothes only for women.  Isn’t it cool?  This is also on of the most religious country in the world.  The most important thing that I should tell you is that there is no snow!!!  It is always hot, sweaty and sunny and that is why the skin colour of most the people who live in India are dark.

This is my best explanation of my country.  What about yours?  Are you from an other country?  Do you like to tell me about it? I am so impatient to listen about you country………

Skiing

I LOVE to ski so that is why I am blogging about it! Skiing is one of my favourite sports. Lots of people like snow boarding but I prefer skiing. One of the best things about skiing is the snow and not having both feet on one board. When I go skiing I always go on the bigger/biggest hills. People that have not gone skiing before will have LOTS of fun when they go, unless they go snow boarding.

When I first started to go skiing I only went on the Bunny hill because I didn’t like heights.  2 years ago when I went skiing. We had to do a test to see that we could go on the bigger hills. I was really good but I didn’t like other people testing me. So when I was skiing I had to stop and I ended up crashing into the bush!
Every year I usually go skiing about 5-8 times AT LEAST! This year I want to get a skiing pass so I can go almost every weekend! I love going to “Sun Ridge” because they have a “T-Bar” and really steep hills.  But “Snow Valley” is still all right.

When ever I fall when I ski I usually get stuck so I have to take my ski’s off. I have never gotten a injury. I can NOT wait until I go skiing next! The one thing that is really cool about ski hills is that they make their own snow!

Roller Derby: a full contact sport!

Roller Derby: a full contact sport!

Most people don’t know what Roller Derby is. But even if you do, you probably think it is just a bunch of girls on Roller skates, NOT ROLLERBLADES!!!!! So I am going to explain it to you. I only have a few short paragraphs, so here I go…

Roller Derby is DEFINITELY a full contact sport, no if, ands, or buts about it. That is the WHOLE point of the game, is to hip check people! (Crazy, I know…) It is a male and female game, but there are WAY more female teams then male, unlike other sports. There are 4 levels of Derby, Junior Derby, Rookie, Intermediate and All-Star. Junior is 10+ in age, 18+ in age is Rookie and all other levels.

Now the explaining of the game:

There are 2 teams; each team has to have these on the track,
1 pivot
1 jammer
3 blockers

A pivot is the one who controls the speed of the “pack” (the pack is the group of girls on the track at once). This is a really important position. The jammer is the one who scores the points. For this position, you have to be quick and fast, and be able to take hard hits. The blockers have the most important job. What they have to do is not let the opposing jammer through the pack to score any points. They want their own team’s jammer through to get the team points. They have to do this for 2 minutes, unless it is called off by the referees. Whoever has the most points at the end of the 1 and a half hour game wins.

And I think that’s about it…

So, do you think this is a (totally!!!!!) awesome game like me, or do you think it is not safe at all (like when all the hip checking happens, and people get hit to the ground, and sometime not being able to get up)???

I want to know!!

My point has been proven! J

Circle Time

In our classroom we have Circle once a week.  Circle is where you sit in a circle and you’re polite to people who are speaking.  Circle is basically a time to talk about issues such as bullying and cliques.

In order to have a chance to speak, you have to have your hand up and the teacher will pick on you to speak just like in class.   You get to hold this stuffed cat that we call Crazy Kitty.

What I like about Circle the most is how straight forward everything is.  People are usually honest about everything in Circle and you can always pass if you don’t want to say something.

So this is why I think Circle is good.  What do you think?

Why Can’t We Eat Outside At Lunch Recess?

I never under stood why we couldn’t eat outside at lunch recess ever since grade 2?  I bet a lot off other kids wonder why to.  What is the difference between first and last recess from lunch recess?

I think it is only because if kids don’t finish their lunch they had to eat in the lunch supervisors room. I think they only want us to go in the lunchroom so the lunch supervisors have company.

But I think they should let us eat at lunch recess.  I don’t like eating inside in front of the supervisors because I feel like I’m in trouble.

I am excited to read what other kids think.

Bullying

I am here to talk about bullying.

Bullying is a really bad thing to do.  You should never bully.  You can go to jail for bullying.  Do you want to go to jail for bullying?

I am bullied and it is not fun.  If you are being told that you’re ugly and that nobody likes you and you will never have friends repeatedly you are most likely being bullied.  Or if people are kicking you and punching you repeatedly you are also being bullied.

If you are being bullied you have to tell somebody or your parent that you are being bullied.

I think that we should teach kids at a young age that bullying is bad.  I was taught at a young age that bullying is bad.

If you are bullied do not listen to them you are perfect.

Why Isn’t Dodge Ball a Unit?

That’s a question I have been wondering for ages… well maybe since 2 years ago that’s kind of like ages. What’s so different from dodge ball and the other units???  Dodge ball is just as fun as the other units that we do in school.  And it makes us do just as much exercise R.A.C …kind of.  I get how some people argue in dodge ball like, I hit you no you didn’t kind of thing.  But they do it in almost every other unit.

I bet everyone who is reading this post is wondering what I’m wondering too.  Maybe 2/24 people are bored of dodge ball and don’t want it as a subject and I agree how.  But still 22 out of the 24 people still like it and want it as a subject and it’s not fair if 2 people don’t like it and 22 of the people can’t play it.  If a teacher reads this and makes it a unit for the school that would be epic, but I don’t think that’ll happen. LL

But that’s just what I think now tell me what you think!!!

The Bennett Centre

At my school in grade 6, we go to the Bennett Centre for our science activity, we stay there for 1 and half days.

Their food is so good.  We eat cookies for snack, we eat chicken for supper and we eat cereals for breakfast.  We have so much fun, at night we are waking people up and they get angry at us…that was fun.

My favourite part of the activity is the Predator and Prey survival game we play in the forest.  You are like an animal because if you are a herbivore you have to stay away from the carnivores, diseases and elements.  My favourite animals is the carnivores because you have to chase people, and disease and element is kind of same because they can chase all of the animals but you can’t get them…then we go back in the school and we walk far.

I never forget the activities and the foods at the Bennett Centre.

What's the Deal About R.A.C.?

The deal about R.A.C. is that the teachers think that R.A.C. is like the same thing as gym.  When really it is not.  Like do the teachers think that we like running when most of us don’t.  Yes some people do but most people don’t.  We get enough exercise at school and at home.

I know that teachers want us to do better things in our lives other than just sitting and doing nothing.  I know that yes we should do other things with our lives and that other people want to do nothing with their lives other than just sitting and watching TV.

Certain people like R.A.C. but lots of people don’t.  The people who like R.A.C. they are going to be healthier.

I want to know what you think.

Div 2 Locker Deal

They really should get lockers in the Div 2 hall at “the school”.

Imagine how someone’s pen is left in “other room” to get it back you would normally have to interrupt the teacher in the other classroom.  Lockers would eliminate the stress because all your stuff would be in the right place if you forgot it.  Even if it’s okay if you forget, you really shouldn’t.  But if it was in a locker, you wouldn’t interrupt any other classrooms.

There would be space in the normally used bins for the teachers to use, if our stuff was in a locker.  They would be able to keep more educational stuff in the classroom.

In a locker, no one would be able to steal your stuff.  A locker could have more space for shelves and backpacks.  Kids could be more organized on shelves, instead of stuffing their backpacks or digging through bins.  Our stuff wouldn’t get mixed up from falling on the floor out of the backpacks.

What do YOU think?

Walking In a Line Down the Hallway

Why do we have to walk in a line?  I understand the grade K, 1, 2 because they could wander off but why 3, 4, 5, and 6?  I think that’s really not needed, recommended, or appropriate.

When I walk in a line I feel as if I am a five year old.  Plus we don’t really do walk in a line too.  Okay, if we are behaving in a line then we should move on to not walking in a line.  That’s really fair.   Plus why lines when there is such more than a boring old line, why not a zigzag or the shape of a C, B and you can keep on going.  How do you think?

The New Driving Law

There is a new law about having your hands on the wheel at all times.  No phones or eating anything.  The only thing you’re allowed to do is change gears or to change the radio station.  So from now on, you’re not allowed to take your hands off of the wheel while you are driving.

Same with riding your bike on the road.  You have to have your hands on the handlebars at all times, no excuses.  I do not like this law because I have a really bad habit of riding my bike with one hand on the handlebars that is really hard to get out of.  You can also get a major fine for not obeying this law.  I think we shouldn’t have to do this.

What do you think of these statements?

My First Day of School

I woke up for the first day of school early, excited and a little nervous because I wasn’t sure who my teacher would be or who would be in my class.

I arrived at school with great curiosity and quickly went inside to the bulletin board where all the classes are listed and searched for my name.  I was a little surprised but very happy that once again I would have THE BIG HAM for my last year at this school.  There were a lot of my friends from last year in my class again which was good but at the same time I still missed my other friends a little, the ones that went on to grade seven and had to switch schools.  At least I can look forward to seeing a lot of them again next year…hopefully at this junior high that I really want to go to.

The rest of the day went really good THE BIG HAM seemed really happy to see us all again, as lots of us were in her class for grade four.  I joined the Lunch Supervisor program this year and it went really well.  I got a good class and will be working with a couple of my good friends so it should be fun.

I’m really looking forward to my last year at this school.  I think I’m in a really good class with a great teacher and I am going to try super hard to have a great year!

First Day Jitters!

Ever since I was a student myself, I eagerly and anxiously awaited the first day of school.  The excitement began in early August when I would bury my nose in the flyers to see what kinds of school supplies I was getting.  That "new" smell just put a happy smile on my face.  Then there were the good years where I was able to choose a new back-to-school outfit!

Today was the first day to meet my students.
Even though I’m not a student anymore, similar feelings exist as a teacher.  I imagine most teachers have the same thoughts:

•  What will my students be like?
•  Will they like me?
•  Will they listen to me?

Thankfully, today turned out to be a great day filled with familiar faces, game playing and good laughs.  I look forward to a great year.

How was your first day back?
