MY 2012 NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION IS TO SPEND LESS MONEY.
I have plans to go to England in July and if anyone's has ever travelled, you know that it is expensive. So far, it's been working well. Other than my fixed costs such as a mortgage, groceries, insurance, taxes and various bills, I have kept my variable spending (stuff like clothes, shoes and entertainment) down. Yes, I know it's only ten days into 2012. I find that if I don't visit malls or stores, I have a much better chance of keeping my resolution. To help with spending less money, I have set up some Glass Jars of England and put cash into it every week so that I have a visual of the money that I am saving.
I LOVE shopping so I'm excited to see how long I can keep this up. Wish me luck.

Hey Room 14! I was so busy before the break that I wasn't checking in on your blog. So I just spent a bit of time reading over some recent posts and enjoyed myself. You are doing a good job at giving your points of view and backing up your ideas.
ReplyDeleteI am curious to hear what some of you have for Resolutions. I have had the same resolution for a while now. I want and need to live a lifestyle that is healthier. In a year I will be 50 and I want to live to be an active, healthy old lady. I think where I get stuck with my resolutions is that I try to do too many things at one time and then I get overwhelmed and go back to my old bad habits. So this is my plan this year. I will pick one part of living a healthy lifestyle and just focus on that one until it becomes a habit and then I will add in another habit.
I like the big HAM's idea of having some sort of visual(like her jar) to keep track of how the progress to the goal is going. My first goal is to do a minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity 5/7 days a week. I am going to use the calendar in my office and put a star on it eveytime I put in the 30 minutes. You can check in the office and see how I am doing.

ReplyDeleteMy new year's resolution is to have over 20 sweaters because I LOVE sweaters!!!!! The way I am going to do this is if I save all my money, but that is REALLY hard because I spend my money on candy, junk food, games and swimming! To help me save money I'm going to give it to my mom so then I wont spend it.

My New Year's resolution is to wake up early to come to school because I am always late because i wake up at 8:00 so, I don't time to get ready because I have to eat breakfast then I have to take bath then dry off my hair and walk for 5 minutes.

My new years resolution is to eat healthier and to spend less money because then when it comes to Christmas I am always broke. I want to start eating stuff I don't like. For example eat mushrooms,olives,strawberries,pickles,broccoli and to eat shrimp.

I think that is a great idea. Because you do sped a quite a bit of money to spend in a year. Also I hope you have fun in England.

Your resolution is good because saving money is good but then you can't buy stuff but trying to use less money is better than trying to use no money so I agree with it.

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. New years resolutions,I don't think they like me. I don't know about you but, I am no good with new years resolutions. Trust me, I create a resolution but a week later, I always break it. But for a resolution, I think it should be something that you don't do, that way, it would be much more easy and the next day it would be done with.

Good luck. I think you could do this. But you'll need determination.I know how much you love to buy shoes(and coffee). You'll have to give one up.(choose shoes). Well if you stick to it than you can do it.

ReplyDeleteNow, as for your resolution, I could do that in my sleep, but then again, you might say that dropping video games for good is easy. What I'm saying is that every one has different addictions, and although weird to some people, it's our own individual addictions, and there a part of our lives.

I kinda think you wont get to England because you always go on about you have tons of shoes. So if you stop buying shoes and stop BUYING coffee. (I caped the buying because it is ok if you get free coffee!) IT WILL ONLY BE UNTIL YOU GET THE PLANE TICKET.

ReplyDeleteI think if you really, really, really, really (multiplied by 10)work on this goal you could easily achieve it. Even if it means having to give up shoes and other things you love <3, going to England is FAR better...
Truthfully, I don't have a resolution. So I'm going to come up with one.

ReplyDeleteI really don't like the idea of a resolution. All it is, is someone trying to make them self better when they choose some resolution that they can never get to. That is why I have never made a New Year's resolution.

I think that your resolution is a good idea big HAM. I think a trip to england is a good vaction. One thing you should try to do to save money is go cheap. Buy the cheapist things and you could have two trips. Oh, and don't buy dress's.
ReplyDeleteI'm not into new years resolutions. I either forget about it 3 to 6 weeks later or I quit it 4 to 5 weeks later. I've been trying to do new years resolutions that improve myslef. This year is not going too well either. I made a resolution to annoy my dad less but i'm sick and I keep yelling to fetch me a drink or the tv remote.
My new years resolutions are to annoy my dad less and get more exercise.

That is so awesome, the fact that you are going to England. I have family that live in England but I have never met them. ANYWAYS I think that there should be seperate jar for money to SHOP WITH, when you go to England. I think you might agree. If I were going to England I would leave home with seven outfits and come back with ten outfits.

I think that it is a great resolution to go to England. It is also good that you figured out method on how you could save money to pay for the trip. I mean, it could be very hard to save money to go some place very far. For example, me and my family, welll me and my mom have not gone to Vietnam for over seven years and thats only because we didn't have any money.
ReplyDeleteMy resolution is to have straight A's for the next two report cards, Just like in grade five. It's a new year I'm trying to do at least 85% or higher on every test though out the rest of the school year. I think it's a good one and my mom thinks so too. Another resolution is not to get injure in any way. Last year I got my first broken arm, first giant scar on my knee so I'm try to prevent that this year. My mother really likes that one since I used to get injure a lot.

Good luck with that Big ham...... but there's just one thing that you have to do is DON'T LOOK AT THE SHOES!!!! And that's mostly all you have to do. Not that hard if you just don't look.

Um well that is a crazy resolution for the BIG HAM six weeks sounds like a long time. I didn't make one because i don't won’t to what if I don't stick to there is no point of doing it. That is why I don't do New Year resolution. It is a good thing the BIG HAM made that resolution because she spends to much on SHOES WHY DO YOU NEED TO SPEND 200$ ON SHOES?! I just don't under stand by a computer of iPod or PS3 or something but NOT SHOES! It is sort of DUM it’s all most throwing away money $$$$$$$$$.well that’s what I think about the BIG HAM'S revolution and why I don’t do one.

My new years resolution is to improve in my handwriting and in my house is to put family first and for my church I have to find the key point and to understand more better. I do have troubles with putting my family first than friends and cloths and stuff. But besides that, I think I am doing okay. (I think).
