A few years ago there was a Staples commercial on T.V. where the popular Christmas song, "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" was playing and a father was skipping up and down the aisles while his two kids were dragging their feet and looking very dejected. If you haven't seen it or don't remember, here's your refresher. Although I get a chuckle from it every time, I wonder if that's the prevailing attitude of most kids.
I think teachers are usually super excited to begin every year. We look forward to meeting new students, teaching new concepts and having fun with our class. Although I'm sure some won't admit it, I think that many students also look forward to going back to school. There's something exciting about having the opportunity to start over, the smell of new school supplies and the chance to make a good, positive beginning to the year.
What are your thoughts on going back to school?

To all my former students who helped create Forest 14, I wish you the best of luck at your new school. Come back and visit both virtually and physically. I encourage and welcome your continued thoughts and comments to the new bloggers in Room 14. It would be interesting hearing from older, former students.
To all my new students, Forest 14 will be your chance to have a voice in the world. Share issues that matter to you and start conversations between students, both old and new.
We are a community classroom located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Social media is a powerful and popular tool that is fast becoming one of the main ways to communicate in our global world. This blog allows students to gain valuable practice using proper Internet etiquette as well as providing them with a public voice. The majority of blog posts will be from the students combined with a few from their fearless leader. Hope you enjoy reading!
