Last Friday all the students from Grades 1 to 6 went to Snow Valley for our annual ski and snowboard field trip. This day is one that many students look forward to as it is a time to hang out with their friends and practice their skills. The weather was pretty good this time around. Our students are very fortunate because this ski trip is completely free of charge. Thankfully, one of our student's parents (waspy's mom), volunteered to coordinate the paperwork in order to allow the school to go. We must remember to thank her.
The students get a choice of whether to ski or snowboard. This year I think most of the students in our class chose skiing. There were a couple of people that chose snowboarding. Since it was the first time for many of the kids to do this kind of activity, it was a good choice for them to choose skiing.
This trip was my fifth time trying snowboarding. I was much better at it this year than in years past. For whatever reason, it was a lot easier getting up from falling this year. I think it's because I'm stronger from doing Crossfit plus I figured out how to do it more easily from watching everybody else.
One of my favourite things to do on the ski trip is sitting with the other adults and just chatting over lunch. Also, ordering from the concession stand is another treat I look forward to.

ReplyDeleteI went snowboarding and it was easy. All the skiers should go snowboarding. Snowboarding is better than ski's and I will tell you two reason's why: 1) IT IS A LOT EASIER 2) It is just better. When I was in grade 4 I went skiing and IT SUCKED. I had a much better time this year.
I hate the lesson's. They are dumb. They teach you what you already know. Upgrades are good because it prevents some little kid from going on the obsticol course and dying. I didn't bother getting upgraded because I already access to the medium hill. I was happy with that hill.
I think the Snow Valley field trip is fun and I have no other thoughts.

Thank you Waspy's mom for her hard work because she did all the paper for the other student. I did not go skiing or snowboarding this year because last year in grade four I did not like it because I kept falling. I don't like it so I didn't go this year. I spend my day shopping and went to visit my friend Mareile because she came back from Manitoba and we had her dog when she was at Manitoba at a wedding.

ReplyDeleteI really like Snowboarding. I never was a ski person because I find it's better for balance when Snowboarding. I never liked Snow Valley. I just go to Conners Hill because I can go there any time and it's free and you dont have to wait a year to do it. I have been there one time but I just did not like it very much and I already told you why I don't like it.
Instead of going to Snow Valley I just went home and went to sleep because it was the weekend.
Next year I might go just because I can talk with my friends and Snowboard but I still don't like Snow Valley but we can also get drinks and food there if we want. Maybe Snow Valley is not that bad. But the thing that I mostly don't like that you have to go through lessons and train which is dumb because if you get hurt oh well.

ReplyDeleteI like Ski day and our school is luckey because some schools don't get to go on field trips. At some school's they have to get the kids to pay to go to the field trip and that sucks.
We get to go for free and I know you're thinking big deal but did you know it cost more than $155555555555555 buck's to go to Snow Valley PER YEAR and for a reguler field trip for 1 classe cost more than $9555 for 1 little class. (This is the BIG HAM - I think he's exaggerating on the cost.)
I think lesins are supportive and if they're teaching you the same thing over and over and over they have a reason. It's to make sure you remember. I think upgrades are good to have.
I went snow boarding this year and I twisted my uncle. It hurt a lot.

ReplyDeleteI went skiing because I cannot snowboard and it is easier to do. I did it because I would not have gone down the bigger hill. Also I did it because it is somthing that you dont have to get the upgrade. The snowboard you have to get the upgrade and you do not automatically go to the C hill.
I do not like the lesson because they always ask you questions. They also make the ones who fail on the first one in the line. The upgrade is something snowboarders have to do the upgrade because you start on the C hill. The skiers do not have do the upgrade.
The thought I have is that we do not have to take lessons and the letters are not good.

ReplyDeleteOn the field trip, I skied. I chose skiing because, I have never been on a real snowboard before, but I have been on a toboggan snowboard before to go sledding. I really like skiing because I already know how to ski and I can have races with my brothers friends. The only race that I did with them was: (If you have not been to Snow Valley, you will probably not understand me). Okay, our starting position was at the top of the beginner chair. We had to ski as fast as we could all the way to the big magic carpet. We had to go up the magic carpet, and ski down to the advanced chair lift. After we went up that chair, we had to ski down Rainbow Ridge (The only black diamond there) and then we had to to the top of the bunny hill. But, that was not the whole race. that was only the first part. We only ended up to do up to the second part of the race. I totally forgot what the second part of the race was.
I do not have any thoughts on the lesson! I didn't have a lesson! I'll tell you how: my mom heard something that if you sign your kids lift ticket, they can go anywhere they want with nobody supervising. I was REALLY excited about that because I do not like the lessons there. The lessons are just plain boring. Anyway, so I went to an instructor and I told and showed him that I had a signature. He signed my lift ticket also and he circled the C on my lift ticket. Then my first run was the black diamond.
I loved Snow Valley. It was probably the best time I ever had at Snow Valley. It was probably the best time because I DIDN'T HAVE TO TAKE A STUPID LESSON!!!!! And probably because my friends were there.

ReplyDeleteI went skiing because it is so much easier to ski than snowboarding. Skiing is better because if people never skied or snowboard skiing is easier to start. I never tried snowboarding it looks hard.
I think that the lessons are dumb because every year we do it and I remember it. Upgrades are good because some kids fail the first time and they have another chance.
I think Snow Valley is fun because there is lots of different kinds of hills. I like to go to Snow Valley again next year.

ReplyDeleteI went Skiing because I don't want to hurt my self and its hard to snow board because I don't know to snowboard. I like Skiing because it's fun and we can turn easier than snowboarding and it easy to get up. Easier to take skis off and on.
The lesson was fun and I kind of almost fell when I was going side way. My friends were n the lesson mostly we did things over and over. I upgraded and I didn't fell then I went to the next hill. On the bigger hill we went half way up the hill mostly in the middle of the hill. I went down for another upgrade to do another one to do then I went all away up to the to the top of the hill when I got down I finish the upgrade and I can go on two hills now.
I liked the food there and I liked how comfortable on the skis while I was going down the hills. My helmet was tight and it felt really loose on my head.

ReplyDeleteI ski every year because I saw other people snowboard and they fall down a lot. They hurt a lot so I never go snowboard.
I don't get a upgrade. When I was going down someone from other side push me so I went bad going so I stuck on the hill.
My favourite part of ski day was hanging out with my friends and having slurpees.

ReplyDeleteThis year I skied and had a lot of fun. The reason is because last year I snowboarded and it was painful. I was just fine until I tried to upgrade and hit a pole. It was no fun.
I hated the lessons but this year my instructor had a really cool moustache. The good kids that can do backflips still had to take lessons. It's not fair.
The food was really good and I got to the chair lift but I didn't go up that often, even though I could. The food was the best. Plus I went off track twice. I was in no pain other than my ankles.

ReplyDeleteI chose Skiing because it look very easy and it is easy but I thought that snowbording is easy too but my friend tell me that it's harder than Skiing.
I thought lessons were very hard but it was a lot easier than I thought. My Upgrade was A.

I did not get a upgrade . I do not want a ski lesson. I think that the ski lesson was a good idea because they help you ski.

ReplyDeleteThis year I chose to ski because I was too scared to snowboard because I would not like to keep falling over. I enjoyed skiing instead of doing Dum ski lessons. I enjoyed skiing and my mom was so happy of seeing me ski for my first time I was a little proud of me but it was fun.

ReplyDeleteThis year I went skiing. It was really fun to go skiing this year because I got upgraded to the magic carpet hill. I was so excited to be upgraded to that hill. But the best thing that was so fun was I went really fast on skis. My brother really wanted to come but he had to go to school.
I think taking lessons is fun because you can get better and better because I did. On ski day, before I went to school, I told my parents I didn't want to go on the field trip. But now I know that it is very fun. That was the best day ever.
I think skiing is fun because it was FREE. At lunch time candyapple bought me a slurpee.

ReplyDeleteI went skiing instead of snow boarding because I have bin skiing for 7 or 6 years so I'm used to it. I can snow board and I don't have to if I don't want to.
My lessons were so fun and some times was scary. I got a upgrade it was so fun. My upgrade little scary and fun most of the time.

ReplyDeleteI tried skiing for the first time on this ski trip. Though I was kind of scared, I had a great time. I decided to ski instead of snowboard because it is easier to learn.
I'm an adult so I didn't get a lesson, but I watched the instructors giving lessons to the kids so I picked up some tips. I chose to go down the bunny hill for the first few runs and then I went on the bigger hills.
I'm very glad I decided to try something new!
