Swimming

Last week the Grade 4’s went to swimming lessons.  There were four lessons and they lasted one hour each.  There were three groups: beginners, middle group and experienced swimmers.

I was in the highest level there.  We had to practice front crawl, diving into the pool and we swam A LOT of laps.

For our test on the last day, we had to dive in and tread water.  My group were not allowed to wear a life jacket for this activity.  Then we had to swim to the end AND back.  It wasn’t that tiring for me.

My favourite part of the swimming was diving but it was also my least favourite because I got water up my nose.

In swimming lessons we played a game called Safe Or Sorry and you can play it in the deep end or the shallow end but you have to be careful in the shallow end.  There was the chance that you could bump your head on the ground.  At the end the day we would play freeze tag.

The Big HAM did not go into the pool she just watched us swim.

What level did you get put in?  Do you like swimming and why?  What was your favourite part of the swimming?

  1. When I was in Winnipeg me and my cosen had a contest that who could jump the farthest off the rock and I won.

If I went on the field trip it wouldn't be that fun for me because I don't like doing lessons. But the most funnest part there was when I went tubeing and I fell off lots of the time but my cosen and my uncle had to hold on tight.

  2. I love swimming its very fun. I think swimming is very fun. Last year I went swimming every day on the weekend. I think its very easy to swim. My parents say I'm very good at it.

I like to swim at the wave pools at the deep end. My mom almost drowned. The place that I swam at had waterslide. At the end when we were done swimming we went into the hot tub. Then had a shower.

My favourite part about swimming is diving because it's scary and you almost drown.

  3. I have no clue what "level" I was in. All I remember was I did not like it It totally SUCKED because I HATE swimming. I LOVE that I forgot it all. I would only swim for a party or survival.

I do not mind swimming but I prefer track (running). I do not know why but I do not really like it.

Like I said I do not remember most but I guess I liked the swimming part.

  4. The level that I was in is the last level. It was the correct level. I was supposed to be put in that level. I think. In real swimming lessons, I am in level 10 and I was probably the fastest or 2nd fastest swimmer there. The level that I was put in was pretty easy to me. Now I can't wait to go swimming in the summer and go off the high dive at Queen Elizabeth Pool just to the right of the High Level Bridge.

I totally LOVE swimming. I love swimming so much, I am so tempted to jump in even with my ordinary clothes on. In the summer, we went to B.C and stayed there for two weeks. We were going to go swimming and I had my ordinary clothes on. I told my mom I wouldn't go swimming, but I just had to. I was already a little wet by just staying shallow but my family friend's son just told me I was wet enough that I could just go in the lake. As soon as he said that, I sprinted into the water, accidently into a giant wave and then a couple seconds later I was totally DRENCHED. It's like I was born to swim or something like that.

My favourite part in the swimming lessons was probably the cannonball contest. I think I got the second biggest or biggest cannonball OF ALL!!! I liked the cannonball contest best because it is fun to do cannonballs into the pool somehow.

  5. The level I was in was group C. I am in the right level because A is extreme. Level B is medium and C is easy. It was easy for me I would like it to be harder.

I like swimming because you get to be in water. Also sometimes you are cold and the pool is hot. It makes your body warm and heated. I like the water thats why I like swimming.

My favourite part of swimming is when we get to play games. My other favourite part is when we get to float.

  6. I got put in the first group. The second day they bumped me up to the second group. The first was easy but the second was quite hard. Why, because of all the the swimming uphill and downhill.

I love swimming because of all the easy parts. Some of the more challenging parts are still fun. The best part is that now I can swim without a lifejacket in the deep end. Plus I am going camping somewhere with a deep lake.

My favourite part was the end of the day and Thursday because we did games then. I don't really like to swim because my grade 2 teacher threw me 7 feet in the air and I nearly drowned. I still like swimming a bit.

  7. I was on level C. I'm glad that they put me on correct level. It was normal for me.

Yes, I like swimming but I'm scared of the water.

My favourite part in swimming was playing games. My favourite game was freeze tag because it was the funnest game to me.

  8. I was in level 2. I was in the correct level because they didn't make us swim a few laps to the deep end and back and we all played fun games. It was half and half.

I like swimming because I can float really good. It feels like I'm sleeping. I can do front swims because they're so easy and I can swim faster or it helps me to stretch each of my arms.

My favourite part in swimming is playing Safe or Sorry because everybody does cannonballs if it's safe. If it's we say sorry then we don't jump in.

  9. I was in the beginners group and yes it was the correct level for me but my level was hard. This was my very first time in swimming lessons. I'm kind of scared of the water. Now I'm more comfortable and would try it again.

Like is not the word for it, I love it because it was fun to swim in the water I don't want to got out .

My favourite part was where I know how to Safe or Sorry game because it was fun.

  10. I did have fun swimming. I was in the beginners group. I got a lot of chlorine in my eyes and nose but still had fun swimming. My favourite thing to do was freeze tag and volcano bomb.

I like swimming and now my family will get cards that let us go swimming for free. I think swimming is fun for me and my brother and so as my family swimming is my favourite thing.

  11. I love swimming and I wish we could do that every day. Anyway I got saved by the lifeguard because I was having trouble breathing in and we went swimming after and I had trouble breathing in even though I could stand in the wate.

I got put in the highest level and I hated when we did that stupid life jacket activity. It was challenging to move my arm forward and life jackets slow you down.

I love diving in the deep end. It was awesome that we learned to dive. You should let G4 and G5 go together!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Last year in BC my sister Rori tried to do a dive on the high dive and accidentally did a BELLY FLOP.

P.P.S One of my moms friend's has a kid. He's an adult now but in the past (oh and he's was way younger than my little brother whose 6). Any way he said to his dad "I have to go pee" and then his dad said "then pee in the pool" so he got out of the pool went to the side of the pool and pulled down his trunks and you could get a full eye full of his naked body and peed and everyone laughed and got out of the pool.

  12. I do not know what level I was put in. I do think I was in the correct one. I think it was too hard. I do not want to go there because I would be in the next level. The level I was in you did not get PFD aka Personal Floating Device.

No I do not like swimming because it is too hard I cannot swim. I would rather be in a boat. Boats are better because you dont have to move and you don't need to swim. I do not want to learn to swim because I would just drown. Boats float and they are not made of styrofoam! Swimming is something you would do for fun.

The only part that I like is the freetime that you get after the other stuff. I like playing the games because you play in the shallow end. I like the rec time because you dont get lessons!

  13. I was a C but I got bumped up to the B level. I hated the actual lesson because it was no fun at all except free time. I thought swimming was for survival only.

NO I hate swimming because I sink like a rock. I first started swimming when I was a baby because my dad dropped me in a lake.

  14. I forgot what level I was on because it was last year. I am I grade 5. My level was really really easy. I hope the next time I take lessons it will be really really hard.

I like swimming a lot. This summer I am going to Langford BC. Swimming can be really easy but not all the time. I think the first time I want swimming was when I was 5.

My favourite part of swimming is when you get to jump off the diving board into the deep end.

  15. I am beginner level and it is easy. I can do back float.

I think swimming was fun but not swimming lessons.I hate swimming lessons. My favourite part is swimming a lap,it was funny. My friend and I were laughing and swimming hard to move in our life jackets. Our teacher said to move our legs and it helped, kind of, a little bit. I beat my friend to the end of the pool and back.

  17. I love to swim! I grew up camping and swimming each summer, so I've swum in pools, lakes, rivers and the ocean.

I took swimming lessons every year, and learned to float and do many different strokes.

Even now, I love to swim. We go as a family to public swim times on occasion. As my parents used to say, I'm a fish in the water.
