I started Forest 14 five years ago as a class project. I thought it would allow students another opportunity to state their opinions and have a voice on a variety of topics. Also, it has been neat to see Forest 14's pageviews grow even greater each year. We are now at almost 45 000 pageviews which includes views from such faraway countries as the Ukraine, Spain and the Philippines.
Some of my students dread blog day because they know they have to write at least three paragraphs in response to the post. Because I expect that grammar and spelling be correct, some students try to write as little as possible with the hopes that they can "get away" with it.
As students move forward into the world of technology, social media as such Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat are going to be tools that they use, whether parents like it or not. My goal is to teach students how to use these tools properly and respectfully so that they can be responsible citizens on the Internet. That includes using a screen name to block their identity.

I don't really mind the Forest 14 blog post. It is sometimes fun. BUT so many people write really boring stuff [no offense].
ReplyDeleteYou need to learn to use the internet because people use tech ALL the time. Keep that in mind! You might also might need the internet to research. And do math and I HATE it when The Big Ham makes us do capitals and it is so annoying.
I would write about surviving the walkers trying not to be BIT. Well that is my opinion.

1. What kinds of creatures (dead or alive) have you discovered in or around your house?
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen any creatures around my house because my dad keeps a trap downstairs and he usually cleans it before I can see it. The trap captures things like flies and spiders.
2. What kinds of reactions do you have when you see gross things?
The reaction I would have would be, Whoa that is so coooooooooooooooooooooooool!
3. Describe the worst thing you've seen.
I don't know what the worst thing I ever saw because I think everything is really cool.
