At the beginning of each new year, many people vow to make changes so that they can live better lives. These changes are often called New Year's resolutions. A resolution is a decision to do or not to do something. Some resolutions include being more organized, eating more healthy and exercising more often. People are always eager and have the best intentions when making resolutions. Yet, these same people find these challenges so overwhelming that they fail within the first three months.
Personally, I have long decided that making resolutions is not a very useful exercise for me. Firstly, I have so many things to work on to improve my life that it is too much and I can't focus on one thing. Secondly, the resolutions I pick are too large to overcome quickly. Like everyone else, I enjoy the instant gratification and working on these resolutions more often than not takes a very long time. Lastly, I have made the same resolution numerous times with the same outcome. Failure.
For this year I have decided to focus on one major goal or lifestyle change. Over the years, I have accumulated many items in my life. I like to buy things. Especially things such as shoes, handbags, books and skincare products. They just sit there, collecting dust. I've spent a lot of money on these things and I've decided that rather than buying more, I need to use the stuff that I have and if I'm not using it, then I need to get rid of it.
Think of it this way. You probably have tons of toys in your house. Some of them you play with a lot and some of them you probably haven't played with for years. In fact, I'm willing to bet that you got even more over the Christmas break, causing you to have even more stuff that you don't play with. Where are those toys that you don't play with? Collecting dust in your closet? I encourage you to go through your stuff and either donate or throw away those items.
We live in a society where it is really easy to start accumulating whole piles of stuff. Why do we need so much stuff? Try purging some of it. You'll feel better, I guarantee it.
Do you make New Year's resolutions? What do you think about them? What are some of your goals for this year?

Goals are horrible because you end up failing and then you will have to start all over again and then you will have to waste more time.
ReplyDeleteIf I would make a goal it would be to get a better mark on my report card because I always get bad marks on my report card. Another goal I would like to make is to make enough money to by a dog and a lion.
I have an Xbox 360 and I play on it and search up games and stuff like guns with darts and also I have a tablet and a computer and a ipad and a pistal and cloth and only 1 pair of shoes and also a mini booklet and a journal and some paper and a book.

2. To not get grounded this year.
3. Get good grades.

I think that New Year's resolutions are good ways to stay on track. To me they are great! Some of them are very challenging and that makes it fun to do!
ReplyDeleteThis year my New Year's resolution is to be more organized because whenever I say I'm gonna take a shower or do my homework, it never seems to happen!
I have lots of clothes and a pretty good amount of shoes. I love toys but I never seem to use them but I have a pretty good amount.

I think New Year's resolutions are a pain in the butt because you have a very little, simple goal and then you don't complete it and you never end up doing it.
ReplyDeleteSome of my New Years resolutions are to become a better person.
1.To become more organized because even though I am very lazy I am very picky on where my stuff goes.

ReplyDeleteWhy should I help my mom? Well this might be a silly question to me. Mom will be SOOO proud of me, she won't realize it's me!!! How I can cheer up my dad? I will say
"knock, knock" dad will say "who's there?" I will say "interrupting cow" dad will say "interrupting," I will yell
"MOOOO!!" [thats his favourite joke.] I hate when he is
grumpy. I want to play with my friends outside? NO!!!
I just feel free going to school at 8:25 than 8:40 [it starts at 8:45.
In the basement I have a Wii which Santa gave me last year
