Theft of Electronics

Recently in our school, there have been some theft of electronics.  Students' iPhones or iPods or tablets are being taken out of backpacks and either placed elsewhere or gone forever.  Also, there are some students using their electronics inappropriately or at the wrong time, such as lunch time.

As a result, electronics are now being collected daily by the teachers and locked up in the office.  If students need to contact parents or vice versa, they are to use the school telephone.

In the Forest Height Technology Agreement that was signed by each student at the beginning of the year.  It says that students are allowed to bring their electronics as long as they are being used appropriately.  Apparently, we must make changes to this agreement.

What do you think about this issue?  Why do you have this opinion?

  2. I think this issue has gone too far because now we have to hand them in so they can get locked for safe keeping. I think this electronic stealing thing should stop because I don't want to hand in my tablet every day. I think this thing is stupid because I hate it.

I think that because I don't like people touching my stuff because it has my own private stuff.

  3. I think that this is a stupid thing to do. Phones shouldn't be stolen and if you are stealing them you should stop! This is taking away the privilages of kids to use them at lunch, or text their parents if there is a emergency. If you do not need your electronics, don't bring them. For those people who have phones, don't show them off to people. Then it has a higher chance of getting stolen and you have to worry in class about it and you probably can't focus.

Stealing is such a stupid thing to do. If you do it when you're older, it will go into your records and it will be permanent. Later on you might not even be able to get a job. Also, if you do it in school and you don't even like to study, I find that surprising. I know stealing is a bad thing, but it takes guts to do that stuff and you have to worry about being caught. First of all, there is usually somebody in the hallways watching, and second of all, you have to plan what you're going to and plan schemes! If you don't like to study, why would you do it for a bad thing?

  4. I think it is a good way to protect our devices. If nobody stole them we would't have to do this silly rule every single morning.

Stealing is a really bad thing because someday the people who stole will get caught. Even if they don`t get caught something bad is going to happen to them later in their life. This is called karma!

Our principal should give us another chance because I or anybody else should be able to protect their devices. This is a silly rule. This is my opinion.

  5. I think the new rule that students have to hand their phones into a bucket every morning and then the have to get looked up in a safe at the office is ridiculous. Students in grade 4,5,and 6 should be responsible enough to take care of their own electronics and not use them inappropriately at recces and lunch time. It is so silly that people can not be able to keep their electronics by them at all times. My friend keeps his phone in his pocket and it is fine. There has never been a problem with it. Honestly the new rule should not even exist in the school.

  6. Recently students in my school started to steal smart phones, tablets, etc. This horrible news started in the beginning of the school year. We have not solved the problem yet.

I have only brought my smart phone once. And the only reason why I brought my phone is because I forgot that it was in my coat pocket. That was a huge mistake for me. This never happened to me ever again. The good news that nobody stole my electronics. That's good.

I don't know why people steel. They should not steel. I try to not steel because if I would steel now then I would steel when I am older. If you steel phones when you are an adult you WOULD get arrested.

IF YOU ARE THE ONE WHO IS STEELING PLEASE STOP BEFORE YOU STEEL WHEN YOU ARE OLDER!

  7. Why would anyone steel at school? No one should steel at school, because it's rude, if you think it's funny it's not. Why if you had a phone and someone took it will you feel mad and disaponted probably. I would feel sad because why would you steel something and something bad is going to happen to you, that's called karma and you will feel gilltey too.

If my prinseable seen that I took something which I would never but if he did see I'll be in so much trouble, but if you took something give it back or just tell someone they will be less mad at you.

I don't mind that we are allowed electronics at school. I just don't like it at all about the steeling. Be careful about your phones and electronics.

  8. I think this is not right to bring electronics to school. We should always bring electronics at home because if we don't there will be a lot of stealing. It is very stupid.

  9. I think it is a great idea for electronics to get taken away. Electronics should only be taken away during school hours. But we should always keep the Chromebooks & the Smartboards.

Before anyone thinks of a fake phone as bait do not do it.

  10. I think this is stupid. It's not very fun this I hate it. We shouldn't have to do this. It's not fair. I think we should just ban phones. Only when we are out of school grounds we can use or phones. We should know not to be dumb with our phones.

  11. I think no phones is the stupidest thing that has ever happened to this school. Also because I forget to bring it all the time and today I remembered to bring it. Then today I remembered to bring it and then they take it away and bring it to the office and don't give it back till the end of the day. I can't give it to the office because I might forget it. We are not allowed to have it in our backpack, desk or pocket.

The person who is stealing has wrecked this for everyone who brings their phones to school.

  12. I think it is unfair for everyone else with electronics. Its very dumb and not funny. Everyone will be very angry when we find out who it was. I hope it will stop soon who ever is stealing electronics. You should just ask one for your birthday or something. Our princapal should find out who did this. If its for money then just stop please. Just stop it.

  13. I think it would be fair if the principal take people's phone and leave it for the rest of the day in his office and they can take it after school. If you don't want your phone to get stolen LEAVE YOUR PHONE IN YOUR HOUSE. If you need to call your parents you can use the office telephone.

  14. I think it's a bad thing to take iphones and other electronics. I think the school is doing something good.

Stealing is not funny or cool at all.

  15. I think it is horrable that students have to hand in their electroniks to the principal. Even though I dont take my elektroniks to school, it is not fair other studints not to take their elektraniks to school.

I hope that the people or person shows themself and the teacher and princable isnt too mad. Same with the studints that got their elektroneks stolen - not too mad either.

    1. This is a tricky situation for the principle to be in. I think he has little choice but to secure the electronics to prevent anymore being stolen.

I think about the person or persons taking these electronics. At this age, I expect that a parent would notice their child using a phone or tablet and wonder where it came from. It would be difficult, but the best thing to do would be to teach a child they can't take things from others, and force them to return the items.

  16. I dont like that one person had to wreck it for the whole school but now no phones can get stoolin by students in the school. Now no one has their phones for the day so no one can take them.

I have an iphone and I don't have it for the day. Instead of the princable taking the phones and looking them up he should say to keep them in your desk.

  17. Different electronics keep getting stolen and it's really disappointing because it's not good to steal. Also they're ruining it for everybody! So if this is a joke or not it is not funny. People should think about what they're doing. So I think the principal should lock it somewhere safely so electronics will not always be stolen.

  19. I think this is understandable what you guys are doing for the students, but it is SUPER silly that we have to hand our phones into the office because a kid thought it was funny to take phones!

The principal should make a BIG annoucement saying that you SHOULD NOT bring your phones to school, if you do, keep it in a safe place or hand it into the office. If it gets lost,it is NOT his fault.

Even in the first place, kids should NOT have phones. I know I sound like a hypacrite, since I have a phone myself. I can honestly say I would burn it if I could (since its broken) but my parents would also probably kill me if I did! Most kid dont even know what Apple means!

  20. I think we should keep our electranics at home so we dont lose it all the time. I have a PSP and I don't bring it at school and I will never bring it.

  21. I do not think that this is fair because one person misbehaved. Some people do not use them at a good time but just that person should be punished. We are responsabel but we just need to learn haw to use them at the right time but it is your rasponsabilate to keep them safe. Whoever is doing this needs to stop.

  22. I think it's stupid that we have to give our electronics to the office. The person who does it could just stop. We should not have to give our electronics. Most people have common sense and be mature enough to know not to steel. The principal should do something about it. Like put up cameras everywhere,or get people not to bring electronics. I have an electronic but I put it in my desk so nobody can steel it. Personally I think everybody should do it.

  23. I think that it's the stupid thing on earth. I didn't think that it would be a problem until now. Now I'm not going to bring my phone or tablet to school ever until they stop stealing a tablet or a phone. I think that it is a dumb thing that everybody has to hand the electronics to the secretary.

  24. I like my new school but I miss my old school but I love this school. But they are taking all of the elechoniks away from everybody. I think that is not fair for everybody. I think that is stupid for everybody. Now they can't call their parents with their own phone.

  25. Why should people steal? Stealing is a bad habit. I try not to steal even when I like something that somebody owns. I can ask to have something that somebody owns. Stealing is not allowed. Unfortunately, some people still steal. Maybe security cameras can be set at the school to prevent the fraud.

  26. There is no place in elementary school for children to have cellphones, iPods or iPads. Shouldn't kids be encouraged to play and communicate with one another instead of staring at electronics..there is ample time coming to them for this when they are teenagers...unfortunately!

    1. I totally agree, if the students need to contact their parents or guardians, I think the school is the most appropriate channel to help the students do so...just a thought..
