A bearded dragon is the coolest pet you can have. You may be thinking is a bearded dragon really a dragon but it is actually a lizard. They are called bearded dragons because when they see predators, they flare out their beards to make them look bigger.
My bearded dragon’s name is Elsa. Yes, the same Elsa from the Disney movie, Frozen. My cousin, who is four, named her Elsa because Frozen is her favorite movie. She is beige and brown and she always blends in with my couch. Not very many people call her cute but I think she is.
We’ve had Elsa for three years and she is three or four years old. She loves green salads and strawberries but her favorite meal is mega worms. Mega worms are thick blue worms which we buy from the pet store.
Elsa also loves swimming in our bathtub. She won’t eat unless she has gone swimming first. After she is done in the tub, she is really active. Elsa does not like being in her cage so she stays on my older brother’s bed. She loves getting pet under the chin. Elsa also likes getting pet on her back but not as much.
Would you choose a reptile as a pet? What are some pet names that are suitable for a bearded dragon?

BLOGGER OF THE WEEK
Interesting post, freakymcgee. This is a topic which I feel is very polarising, which means that people either like reptiles or they don't. I, for one, am not a big fan of reptiles. I'm terrified of snakes!
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who has a giant turtle that lives in a bin in the bathtub. Apparently this turtle is many years old and it just sits in the bin in the bathtub. What a sad existence! I also think it's illegal to have a giant turtle in Canada but I could be wrong.
As for pets being able to run everywhere around the house, I'm not sure I agree with this idea. Although I understand that a pet is just like a member of the family, I think there's a fine line between pets and humans. Unlike you, freakymcgee, I would not want to bathe in the same area that a lizard has been. To each their own!
~The Big Ham
I hate pets in general because they're so gooey and it just makes me scream. Having a reptile as a pet would freak me out, especially snakes. When my brother was in India, my parents had guests over and my brother was playing with our dogs, then my brother and the dogs decided to go in to a forest. My mum said it was a forest full of snakes, but snakes are afraid of dogs so my brother wasn't harmed. My mum said she panicked, but they found him! The best reptile for a pet would probably be a chameleon. I like how they change colors, although people can sit on it.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the name Elsa because Frozen was a really scary movie. A really good name would be Mr. Scalesman because you could pretend he works at the store and is selling giant worms. Its like a salesmen.
I would had let my pet stay in the shed because the backyard is like my favorite place, and plus I would have to clean the house.
~POUTINE GROOT
I think about having a REPTILE is going to be slightly terrible because I am not a fan of reptiles. I don't like reptiles because of their scaly icky skin and I would stay away from it because it sometimes looks like a dragon that had been shrunk. The best reptile that would be a pet is a Chameleon. Even though I despise reptiles I would choose a Chameleon because of its colorful skin and the skin might look a little satisfying.
ReplyDeleteI think the name Elsa might be a good name if you were a little kid but I don't think its the right name for a lizard. If I would have a lizard I would name it Scaly because it sounds adorable and it fits in for a lizard.
I was named after something, well its mostly my mom who named me that rhymes with her name.
My opinion about pets running around the house might not be a terrible idea but the right decision would be is to train them to certain places only so that way they're well trained and knows the certain spot.

I think a reptile is a good pet idea, and I want a lizard except my brother wants a snake, and my dad does not like snakes.
ReplyDeleteTo me I think Elsa is an okay name for a bearded dragon because it is a cute name for animals.
I am not named after anyone because my parents just said random names, and I loved the name I am called today.
If I get a pet I will make sections for the pet. I might have it in my room so it will be able to run around.
-puppydoggy84
I think having a reptile as a pet is good because you do not have to buy them a litter box and they never ever ever ever pee on you. I think the best reptile as a pet would be a dinasour because if you have a enemy he will protect you.
ReplyDeleteI think Elsa is a terrible name because it is a name from Frozen the 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 worst movie ever.
I was named after some one who is my grampa.
I think having a loose pet is bad becase if he gets lost and you never found him again you would have wasted like 10000000000000000000$ for nothing.
~thedumbcow
I guess having a reptile as a pet would be okay. I mean it depends what the pet is. For example, if it was a snake I would keep it. If it was a RATTLEsnake...yeah,I would pass.
ReplyDeleteElsa is a great character in the movie...but as a bearded dragon's name I'm not so sure.
I wasn't named after anyone or any thing, my mom just thought that name was pretty.
I would care VERY deeply if a pet went loose. If it was a slow animal I wouldn't have to put up much of a fight because it is slow, but if it was a fast animal I WOULD have to put up a fight.
~sillybrownie
I think reptiles are disgusting. I would definitely NOT want a reptile for a pet. I think they are gross and not cute. If I would have a reptile it would be a turtle. Here is a joke: Have I made myself clear said the chameleon as he stood behind a sheet of glass!
ReplyDeleteI like the name Elsa. If I had a reptile I would name him Patrick because of St. Patrick's Day and everything is green. I think my name means flowers. I was not named after anybody.
No I would not let the pet run around the house because he would poop in there. If I did let him run around the house I would not walk in there anymore.
-fungirl
I would love to have a reptile as a pet. My fish have all died. My old fish tank is big enough for a lizard and I want one SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad. A lizard or a tortoise would be a good reptile pet. I also want a tortoise but I don't have enough space in my room.
ReplyDeleteAs long as a five year old named it, Elsa is a GREAT name for a lizard. My dad doesn't know why he gave me my name, all he says it that my mom took over and named me. But my brother was named after the kid next to him in the hospital. My sister was named after a car brand.
I think it is okay for pets to roam around. My hamster roams loose except I have to make sure he doesn't climb in the fireplace.
~purple tacos
I would like a reptile but lot of reptiles are ugly. The reptile I would want is a snake because I like their color and the design, but I will not enjoy the snake eating the cute rats and mice. I will name my reptile Squash or Guacamole because that will be cute to call their name.
ReplyDeleteI like the name Elsa because it will be cute if you and Elsa sings the song, Let It Go.
I would not mind if my reptile would run wild. If he poops on the couch or anything else I would put him in the bathtub so it will be easier to clean up.
-kitkatsmitsmat
I think having a reptile would be great but my dad is horrified of them. I would like to have them because they would be great for my mom and I to hold them and scare my dad and sister. The best reptile for me to have is a LONG snake because they would be the best to scare my sister and dad. They would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteI don´t think Elsa would be a good name for a pet because I don´t want my pet to come up to me and freeze me. I don´t think I am named after something or someone I think my parents just grabbed my name out of thin air.
I think it is okay to let pets loose but it depends what type of pets it is. If it is cats please stay at home do not let them run free like birdynumnum#1256. I don´t like cats running free because they eat peoples gardens. Put no reptiles on that list too and let all the other pets run or fly free.
~ ConsumedCactus5
I think having a reptile as a pet could be fun and sometimes goes around the house. I think the best reptile for a pet is a lizard or a chameleon. But I don't have a pet.
ReplyDeleteI kind of think Elsa as a name for a reptile would be silly and a bit interesting. I don't know if I was named for something or after someone.
I think pets getting loose would be okay to run around the house because they should get free time. But when they need to go I will just clean it up. If i have a reptile I would name it Ash because I think it's an awesome name.
~thing1
The best reptile to have in my opinion is a snake because when people come to my house I can scare them so they leave me alone because way too much people come to my house. And I just want to relax and have peace and quiet and if my neighbours come to my house to play I say yes because I don't want to hurt their feelings.
ReplyDeleteI think that Elsa is a good name. If I got to pick a name for a pet I will pick Gubby because I have lots of nicknames. Here's one - Cubby. I have more but I don't want to make a list.
I have six pets but one is a fish AKA a shark. I have 3 birds that fly around but one can't fly because he's too old. He is 37 years old. I have a cat and a dog that we let run around. They play together until they start fighting and get rough then my bird starts saying the F word and others.
L8TER COPPER
I think a snake is a very good pet for me because they are beautiful creatures but the only thing is my grandpa is scared I might get bit. But I`m not scared of getting bit by a snake that is not poisonous because then I would probably die!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think that ELSA is an adorable name for a pet. I don`t know what I was named after but I really really want to know. I am very interested to know but how can find out? I hope I will find out one day but I will probably find out soon. I would name my snake Cass.
I think pets should run loose because do you love them? Because I LOVE MY PETS! They are my best friends. Also because they can't talk and complain and yell!!!!!!!!!!!!
~snoopy2
I don't like reptiles because they scare me so my mom calls me a chicken butt. But if I were to have a reptile I would faint and my mother would scream and my daddy would
ReplyDeleteyell at us.
I don't like the name Elsa because I did not like her in the movie Frozen.
I do not know if I was named after anything because my sister named me.
My dog can run around the house except when she has her period or when she is bad. I think it is okay for her to run around.
~gracie1on1
I would not want to have a pet reptile because if it's a lizard it would be interesting. People want a pet reptile and some people have been wishing for a pet reptile. I used to and I started watching videos about that and they said some mean things about them.
ReplyDeleteIt would be a little horrified because Elsa is pretty creepy name and I don't like Elsa. Sometimes Elsa comes to my dream and,its creepy. I used to love Elsa but now I don't. I hate it. My name is after a superstar. It's cool.
It would be horrible to let pets run loose because it can bite you and I've felt it. I got bit in the leg by a dog. It really hurts. I love all the pets that I'd have and few of my pet fish died. Like five of them.
-puppylover
I think that I would want that bearded dragon because they are the cutest lizards. I would like a bearded dragon for a pet lizard but for actual pets I would prefer cats.
ReplyDeleteI think that Elsa is an okay name. I mean but I hate Frozen.
I was named after a Japanese movie and a Japanese writer which I don't even know abut.
I like pets that roam around.
~markiplier
That would be incredible. It would shed and eat live mice. I would scare my sister so badly she would scream. Playing with it has to be fun and + it has scales. How cool is that.
ReplyDeleteIf I got a reptile it would be a lizard with a snake. I would get a cobra: the deadliest and the most poison snakes in the world. The one with stuff on the sides. I would try to feed it pancakes or my sister, either one.
I think Elsa is super cool. It is so lucky that it can run around the house. IT would be a awesome pet. Can it camofloge?
IF I were a pet I would hate to be locked up. Just think about their feelings. I would want to be eating the candy and running around. Who wouldn't?
~nonameman
1.I love Reptiles. They are my favorite type of animals and I have a pet snake.
ReplyDelete2.Elsa is am all right name of a bunny, gold fish, cat, dog, rat, mouse and frog.
3.Pets running loose like dogs, cats, turtles and they could sit on your mouth and take a dump (POOP) and then web your mouth shut, frog and tortoise.
~thedump
Reptiles are very smooth or bumpy animals. They are cold blooded. If I had a reptile pet I would have a snake and name it Daniel the snake. Fire salamanders are reptiles that are very poisonous.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the name Elsa because the song gives me a headache and it goes on foreve. I was never named after something like a pet but I was named after my great Gramdpa James.
Pets like reptiles should get lots of exersize so they should not have a limited space. Unless its a snake it would slither around everywhere and scare you.
~ Bob The Unicorn
Reptiles are just kind of THERE for me. I don't have one, don't care about it, and certainly DON'T want one. In other words, I don't really like them! I am mostly scared that it will come up to me and bite my finger off or something. Since I don't like them, I don't go all scientist on them, I have no idea what breeds there are. So I don't know a lot about them-BUT-if I had to choose a good house-reptile-pet, I would choose a turtle. Because that is the only reptile I actually am sure is a reptile. If that makes sense. My best friend gets to keep the grade two's gecko,(like I said, not good with reptiles) and I always give it the stink eye while she's not looking. I hate her but the feeling is mutual. I think.
ReplyDeleteI think Elsa is a very interesting name for a reptile. (Probably has something to do with the beard). Mostly because it is uncommon,(...or common, I don't know what people name reptiles...) and unique to name someone after a cartoon. Okay, that's a lie, I know lot's of Bambi's. I'm going to tell you the story of like. NOT LITERALLY, this is not health class! So it was November 27...I think...(some people need time to decide the child's name) and it was the day after the sun-AKA, me, was born, and my parents were just deciding what to name me. I guess they had brain fog because they suddenly could not remember what they wanted to name their own daughter! Fast forward a little bit and they finally remembered the name that they wanted to name me, which was Maude, buuutttttt... they already told me they wanted to name me something else (which I will not share for my safety I guess?) because I guess they panicked. Maude then became my middle name. Taa daa!
I would pack my bags and move to Korea if I had a reptile that could run loose. Just saying.
~Diddly Squat
I think having a reptie is okay because I have a lizard. It would be good if you didn't have to clean his cage, get him water and feed him live worms. It's a good thing I cant touch worms so my dad has to feed him. If I could have any reptile I would definetely not get a snake because you have to feed him frozen rats, so I would probably get a lizard because thay are the easiest to take care of him.
ReplyDeleteI think Elsa is an awful name because it sounds like some thing a three year old would name something. I was not named after any one for some reason but it would be cool if I was named after someone.
I only let my lizard run on the floor of my room. I cant let him run any where else because he might run away. I let my dog run any where in the house because he cant get away. I also think it would be gross if he ran on all the couches and stuff.
~BillNyetheScienceGuy
I don't want to have a reptile because you can't pet them. If you pet a snake, it can bite you. It some times can even poison you! I don't want to get poisoned by my pet. With cats you can't get poisoned. You can pet them and I sometimes even use my cat as a pillow! Believe it or don't but he likes it! He purrs louder and louder. I can't do that with my other cat because if you touch his stomach, you would be out of the house!!! We should have called him Stinky!
ReplyDelete~birdynumnum#1256
I think that reptile is good for a pet because it will protect you like a body guard. I would want a Camoto Dragon because it's a body guard. You can sleep on the back and its like a couch to watch TV.
ReplyDeleteI think Elsa is a bad name because I hate the Elsa movie. I watch it about 46 times.I think that my grandma just named me randomly.
I think my cat should go around the house but not the couch because it scratches it.
-soldier boy
If I could have a reptile for a pet I would like to have a chameleon. I think they are cute!
ReplyDeleteI like the name Elsa but I would name him, "I Don't Know"! At least until I could think of a better name.
I was named after my Grandma, her name was Fatoumata too. At home my family just calls me Fatouma.
I think pets should be allowed to go where ever they want in the house. I just hope they don't poop in my bed!
~slidegirl
I think a reptile is an amazing pet. They are really cool. My bearded dragon snuggles with me. A bearded dragon is the best reptile pet and just the 2nd best pet ever.
ReplyDeleteMy opinion on Elsa as a name is actually a good name for a bearded dragon because it's one of the silly names that people name their animals and I think it funny.
I think it's good to have animals run loose so you can bond with it because if it's in a cage all the time how are you supposed to bond with it. Why would I go in the bath with the poor bearded dragon?
~freakymcgee
Having a reptile for a pet would be fun. I would name it Ghost Rider. The pet would be a Komodo dragon.
ReplyDeleteI think ELSA is a good name for a movie but not in real life.
I would let my cat go everywhere with me.
~pokemon
I think having a reptile would be even scarier than my sister, and my sister is pretty scary. None of the reptiles would be a good pet and my mom would never let me have a pet. She is CRAZY about her clean house and I know where she got it from. And I am already enough.
ReplyDeleteI think that Elsa is a cute name. I would call her Lenore, just like my mom. Or Eva like my sister because she is very scary. I was named after a French girl in a movie. My mom loved. I thought that that was kind of weird but I got used to it.
I think that if animals will poop every where then no, they should not be allowed to run loose. But if it is potty trained then still no. Unless it is a dog, then I think that will be okay.
~blueroom
