2020 - A New Decade: What Are Your Goals?

January is the time of year that many people make New Year's resolutions.  These are goals or ideas which people want to achieve or strive toward, usually to better their lives.  Some common examples for adults are to lose weight, eat better, stop smoking or exercise.  More often than not, people are really eager to make their resolutions come true and are usually disciplined enough for the first month to really try to reach their goals.  Then people start to realize how difficult it is to maintain their new lifestyle and slowly begin falling back into bad habits.

Children can also make goals for their lives.  They can be related to school, home, extra-curricular activities or health.  For example, maybe you decide that you are finally going to keep your room clean.  How would one reach that goal?  First, you can make sure to hang up all your clothes everyday or you can make sure that you put away things in their proper places so that clutter does not build up.  A school-related goal may be to walk ten laps during indoor R.A.C.  In order to achieve that goal, you must be willing to put forth more effort into speed walking.

Remember that goals must be attainable.  In other words, you should only make goals that you know you have a chance of achieving.  There is no point in saying that you are going to be the fastest runner in your class if you hate running.  Likewise, you would not say that you're going to listen to the teacher more often when much of your day involves talking to your friends.  You must choose a goal that you are willing to work toward.

Choose three goals and describe why those are important to you.  How are you going to achieve those goals?

  1. I think new year's resolutions are great because it makes you a better person.

I'm going to make my bed everyday so that my parents don't have to do it and so when I go to bed I can just crawl in. I'm going to stop leaving dishes out in the living room so my parents don't yell at me.

In the past I set a goal of cleaning my room but I failed because I was too lazy all the time.

  2. What I think about resolutions is that they're are pretty cool because it helps people finish what they started.

I have never set goals in the past so these are for this year but I think I WILL achieve my goals.

One of goals are to try to stop biting my nails because my uncle told me and showed me what is in my nails and I jumped up screaming. Second I want to get better at soccer and how to do that is to practice a lot. Third is to get better at not getting mad at my brothers only because they bug me a lot. Fourth, to get better at dancing because its what I like to teach my brothers.

  3. I think resolutions are great because they kind of get us much
    active.

My goal is to run even faster because I think I got slower.
And my other goal is by making the rice and putting it on the stove. And I hope I reach those goals.

  4. I think new year resolutions are very useful because they can change the way you are, and can make you better at things. This year I'm going to try to finish mine and become one of the 8% of people who ACTUALLY finishes them.

The first is I decided all year long, AFTER dinner I'm going to go into my room and lay down on my bed and read for about hmm... 30 minutes :) After a while I should be getting smarter. My SECOND is to probably tone it down being online, because I think my brain is rotting and I`m going to try to run away from that. Well I guess that's all I can think. I think I can really do it...

Every resolution I EVER did in my life I failed. Example, "I`m going to read more" FAIL "this year I'm going to stop playing electronics" FAIL one more, "This year I'm going to start practicing for soccer more" FAAAAAAIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLA!!!

    Oh my, I've got anger.

  5. I have never done any goals before. Only 8 percent of people achieve their goals. I do not like goals, I think they're too hard.

My goals would be to drink more water and play less games becaused I don't drink as much water and I play too long. I plan to only drink water now.

  6. I think that New Year's resolutions are a good idea because people have something to work towards everyday. It can make many people more healthy. But not many people actually achieve their goals. People stop caring about their goals.

One of my goals this year is to drink more water. I am really bad at drinking enough water. I think I am already getting better at it but, I think I can get even better at it. I can start achieving this by bringing a water bottle to school every day. I am also going to read more every day. I read 20 minutes every day but I want to do 30 minutes every day.

  7. I think resolutions are the worst thing ever because no one can complete it.

This year I want to play more with my brother and read lots of books.

  8. I don’t have experience with New Year's resolutions, but I don’t think they are needed because people make goals in the middle of the year.

My goal is to be more responsible with T.N.T. in Minecraft. The problem is I place down so much of it and the world blows up. So you better not give me T.N.T. or say goodbye world.

  9. I think New Year's resolutions are a good thing because some people have bad habits, and break them.

I have TWO goals, not one, not three,TWO! The first one is to become a better cook. The second one is to become a better artist. I can achieve the first goal by cooking more, and I can achieve the second goal by drawing more.

  11. New Years resolutions aren't really achievable, especially when you're forgetful. I don't really do New Year's resolutions, because I have nothing really to make a New Years resolution. I've been thinking maybe to make one, and it is to have a year to get LOTS of things on games, on Roblox, so I can do more stuff and give away more items and more, to just be nice, and make everyone happy, but, it may help me A LOT, depending on which game it is, in Roblox.

I've been making a few goals lately and it is to:

Find my friend from swimming lessons since I've been not going there for a year I'm pretty sure.

Second is trying to get my other OLD OLD account to a different computer so I don't lose ALL of my things on Roblox.
Third is I want to go to Galaxy Land, BEFORE IT'S GONE, BECAUSE THEY'RE BUILDING A NEW THEME WHERE GALAXY LAND WAS, and also it's because I've never been there before.

One more thing why I wanted to make that goal. I also just wanted to say on a roller coaster "I'M EARTHWORM SALLY!!!!!" It's just a meme from Flamingo, the YouTuber, I'm pretty sure, but, still not exactly sure.

  13. I think resolutions are sometimes good and sometimes bad because some people make good resolutions and sometimes people make bad resolutions.

My first goal that I will like to complete for this year is take more responsibility for my brother/be kind to my brother. I am sometimes nice to my brother but sometimes he just annoys me so much that I yell and scream. Another goal I will like to complete is to STOP TAKING MY BED SET APART!!!!!

Also another goal that I want to complete is when my mom says my name I always say, "WHAT I AM TRYING TO PLAY MY GAME!!!!" I have a bad habit of say what I am trying to play my game.

Also another goal that I want to complete is taking more responsibility for my two cats because there is some nights where I get away with it and I don't feed or give the cats water.

  15. My resolutions are to have better team work in hockey so that I'll get a team work medal in hockey.

My mom and dad go nuts if I don't make my bed. They go like GO MAKE YOUR BED!!! So that is totally one of my goals. I also want to read more and have less screen time then I'll get two times smarter.

  17. I think that resolutions are okay but some people make impossible goals, they must be attainable! Did you know that 8% of people actually finish them? Most people either forget or just get lazy. I think that people should try harder to finish them. Most people are probably just very lazy.

The two goals that I would do would probably be to get better at basketball and to be more social because I am not shooting much and I am not a very social person.

  18. I think that New year's resolutions are great because it makes people try to do something that they could not do.

If I was going to pick a goal I would try to write faster because I am very slow at writing. The second goal I would try to do is to spell long cards correctly because I cant spell long words correctly without spelling it wrong.

  19. I do not like New Year's resolutions because no one ever finishes them.

I guess if I did have one which I don't it would be finishing all 11 of my video games.
