Our school has recently purchased 40 Chrome books to begin replacing our old Computer Lab. A Chrome book is very similar to a laptop except it is stripped down to its bare bones. It really is just a way to get onto the Internet.
The students have been very excited to use the Chrome books. It was a little difficult at first to figure out how to use them. There is no mouse and they had to get used to a touch pad. Also, many of the students are just getting used to learning how to type. However, I think the general consensus is that they are a lot faster than the ancient ones in the Computer Lab.
A funny thing about the Chrome books is what we call the cart that holds them. It is a "cart-on-wheels" or affectionately known as a C.O.W. We have a brown cow (C.O.W. 1) and a black cow (C.O.W. 2). This had led to many cow jokes, including a lot of "moos" and pulling the cows from the "pasture."

ReplyDeleteI enjoy working with the Chrome books, but I feel a bit nervous about everything being 'out there' in cyberspace. I prefer to have it on paper in front of me. That way I know where it is.
I love the chrome books! They are so awesome!!! I like the chrome books because they are way faster than the old computer lab! I also like them because They are fun to make graphs with but I would like some free time on the chrome books for example going on a web site.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the chrome books because you have to save everything on the internet so people could hack your system but there is a one in 100th chance of that happening. So my opinion is that

I think that the chrome books are so cool. I like that they are fast and easy. It makes it easy because you don't have to leave the room. I think it is kind of funny that its called a C.O.W. It is so cool that we can stay in our room. I do not have a computer at home and it is so easy on the Chrome books. I wish that I had one because they are so cool. But I wonder why they are called a Chrome book?

The Chrome books are awesome! But it is kind of sketchy because anyone could be looking on it. It's kind of cool because it's like a mini movie player. Also, it's like a laptop.
ReplyDeleteYou can't go onto Internet Explorer and someone could hack onto your system. But there is a one in a 1 000 000 of that happening.
The Chrome books are really sensitive. You touch one thing wrong and it gets all messed up. The Big HAM was working on one and the touch pad broke.

I love the Chrome books. They are so fun and some times they are very easy to work with.They are very fast why do I not have them to do home work I will so like that.Nothing is more fun then this.

I really enjoy the chrome books!!!! Even though they are pretty small I really hope we get to do more stuff on these chrome books. Maybe writing a story or playing a couple of games would be really fun.And the word C.O.W wants to make me moo! Really all that I have to say is that chrome books are AWESOME!

I love chrome-books because they are much easier then laptops.I think that it is so funny that they are called cow 1 and 2.I wonder why we have plug them in to the cart.

I just love our new chrome books. but I'm still not too good with them. I'm glad that they have a typing program.Because I'm not very fast.Because I don't use computers or chrome book's that often.

WHAT? WHAT?? ... The year after we leave you get all the cool stuff! last year we had the super slow old computers in the computer lab.
ReplyDeleteSo I have a suspicion that you just didn't like us. we never got any good stuff We got all the hand me downs. And back in 1988 yeah you would be too amazed the computer actually worked to care it was slow.
Imagine this ... (this is a memory) Me: yeah my computer is the first one on. (Later) Me: its loading ... it's loading (5 minutes later) it's loading ... its loading ( 10 minutes later) YEAHOO IT STOPPED LOADING ... computer: shut off activated. :(
