There are many festivals and parades in Edmonton in the summer. They are all for many different reasons like celebrating culture or an achievement or just enjoying music. I have been to all of them , and mostly enjoyed them all. Like in the summer if you register for the YMCA day camps they take you to The Street performers, a parade downtown in July and they take you to other ones. One time I was with my mom and brother and we went to the parade for about 2 hours, it was awesome! Then another time me my mom and brother went to capital-x (aka K-days) and I wanted to play a game and she said after, and so I waited and then as soon as I got to the game it started to pour. Like, really heavily. And so they had to shut the whole fair down and everyone had to leave. All the parades , festivals, carnivals and fairs in Edmonton I’ve been to are: The fringe, capital-ex, The Street Performers, Heritage days, The Caribbean and Gay pride. Basically I’ve been to all of them.
My favorite festivals are either Capital-ex or Heritage days, They are really awesome! Heritage days is where, in Hawreluk park in the middle of summer these people come and set up booths and sell food from their own culture. There is also items being sold and dancers dancing cultural dances . Last year when I went I ate so much, but my favorite food was the Ukrainian perogies and the Italian ice cream that I had. Yum! My favorite part of Heritage days, is the eating.
Capital-ex is technically an amusement park. It comes in July for eight days in the downtown coliseum. It is HUGE! I have been to K-days almost every year of my life that it has been in Edmonton except for last year, only my brother went then. My favorite part is probably the rides. The rides they have are better than the galaxy land rides! Heritage days and Capital-ex are so awesome!
There are so many people that come to these festivals from all over just like people come to shop at WEM. Usually there is so many people that you could probably get lost in the crowd! There is also a festival called Gay Pride and it has been around for a few years and it is to celebrate people being able to marry the same gender.
I love all the festivals that happen in Edmonton.

My favourite festival is Heritage Days because you can try all sorts of food. My favourite food was the perogies too they were deliciously epic.
ReplyDeleteMy least favourite food was the ice cream at Heritage days mostly because I don't like ice cream at all I know it sounds weird but its true. I bet if I liked ice cream I would love the ice cream at Heritage days.
I would love to go to Capital X. I would probably go on the bumper cars the whole time if they had many bumper cars you can probably tell I'm also afraid of rides.

My two favourite festivals are the Capital-X and a fair that I do not know what the name is. It is near Bonnie Doon Mall. I like these because you can have fun and enjoy yourself plus I get to go to one or something on my birthday.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a least favourite because I like all festivals.
In the summer I am looking forward to the Capital-X and the festival near my house in the parking lot of Bonnie Doon.
My favourite festival activity I have done is go through the mirror house, the teacups and the haunted house.

I have never been to festivals in Edmonton. I have been to one in Manitoba a long time ago. It was fun but we stay there for a little bit. We missed almost every thing. It was really loud. It was my favourite festival ever.

My favourite Edmonton festival is K-days. Its more awesome than my brother! Well, it should be... The reason I like K-days is the excitement everywhere. My favourite ride is the bumpercars. Bumper cars are cool!
ReplyDeleteMy festival I hate is The Fringe. Its so boring because I've been there, I think... Thats K-days is my favourite. So yea why the fringe whhyyyyyy. Why do bad things happen to good people?
The festival I want to attend is the Gay Pride festival. Its ok to go to a Gay pride parade thing. Rainbows are cool!!!!!!. And I'm not gay so be quiet.
-dacookieking11
I have been to a couple festivals such as The Fringe (It stinks), Capital-X, and..... nothing more.
ReplyDeleteThe worst festival is probably Gay Pride. Even though I have not been there it sounds boring and stupid. I don't even like going to a relative's wedding so I would not like watching a bunch of guys get married to the same gender. It sounds disgusting so I would never go there ever ever ever( unless there is maceroni) but I would still not pay attention to the merrige of people I don't know.
I love mini doughnuts fron K-days.
Blackbearx
I have only been to to K days so it's my favorite because it has really cool games rides,
ReplyDeletefood, candy and more. You should check it out.
I cant have a least favourite one so yeah but I guess theres one thing bad about K days. If you know the tire slide I went down and I burnt my arm on the side. I put my arm out and you know the rest.
I want to attend Capital-ex I have been to it but want to go again. My favorite part is the mini donuts.
skate4life
I like K-Days but i think the Gay pride is a bad idea but that is my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI won air it was my best win it only took 4$. My favourite ride is the rollercoaster.
And I love the Fringe because it smells like burnt toast from the burnt food. I think it's the elephant ears.
-pig1
My favourite festival is the Folk Fest but I don't think that's a festival. My favourite food there is the Eliphant ears. The reason it's my favourite is that my friend usually takes me because they usually go and invite me.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what my least favourite because I haven't been to many festivals.
I think I might like to go to the Heritage Days it sounds fun. If i go the Heritige Days I'm looking forward to the food.

Great post, bookfreak! It sounds like you've gone to many of the city's festivals and had lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite festival in Edmonton used to be the Street Performers Festival. That is, until it got really popular and way too crowded. I also like Heritage Days because of the food, although I'm not real fond of the long line-ups.
One of my favourite memories of Capital-Ex is a few years ago when my friends and I won electric scooters from a carnival game. The game was to shoot three plastic cups with a toy pistol that shot plastic ping pong balls. You got three chances and you had to aim at just the right spot in order to knock down the cups. Fortunately for us, we were all EXTREMELY good players and ended up winning A LOT (and I mean A LOT) of electric scooters. I won two myself and I'm not even that good. In fact, during this time there was a HUGE crowd watching us win all these scooters. We felt a little self-conscious walking out of there.
My other favourite festival is the Taste of Edmonton (thanks for reminding us, Supercheesy!)Here is where you buy tickets to sample restaurant food.
~The Big HAM
I love festivals now and when I was a little. Sometimes I buy every thing there. But sometimes not. Most of the things are important but some are not. But sometimes I hate buying them but I need them.
ReplyDeleteI have no least favorite festivals because they are all great. I love when lots of people go to the festivals. But some people hate them that is very bad. Once me and my dad went to the Heritage Day festivals it was very fun.
I think I want to go to the Street Performers. I think that I will go there next year. Or this year. I think it will be really fun. I always go with my dad. Thanks festivals.

I don't have a favourite but I love Taste of Edmonton. It is so fun and I love the food but I hate the lines it usually takes like 2O mins for just one line not five, like it should be. One of my favourite food is this potato thing thats on a stick and has great seasoning.
ReplyDeleteMy least favourite is Capital-Ex. The reason is the lines it takes like a half an hour and you can get lost so easily. Its still fun but it takes too long times just to go on one ride so for me its not really that fun in the end.
I would like to go to the Fringe because it seems fun. I don't know why but it seems fun.
~Angel
My favourite Festival is K-days. It's really fun I like the rides the most, I also like that rain tent. I also like the mini donuts they're really really good. The best part last year was I won a mini motorbike. My favourite ride is Fire Ball and Drop of Doom.
ReplyDeleteMy least favourite Festival is Gay pride. There's nothing really to do except get free Froster and go on that bungee jump trampoline thing.
The festival I would like to attend this year is K-days so I can get mini donuts and this year I'm
going to go on my favourite rides and try to win another mini motorbike.
-Mr.Bananas
My favourite festival that you have mentioned is K-Days. It is really fun and I love the elephant ears. Actually I've been to a rodeo where they had elephant ears and we were really lucky because no one was in line. And as soon as we left a big line formed.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a least favourite festival because I haven't gone to any besides K-Days out of the the ones you mentioned.
I would like to go to the Taste of Edmonton all though it is really expensive. Its where the restaurants sample food and you buy tickets but its the tickets are the expensive.
-waterworld
My favourite festival that Book freak mentions is K-days. Once a few years ago I went on a ride, after I threw up after the ride. I also play some of the games. Once it was throw the ball into the life persevere and it took almost all my money but I finally won a giant monkey. I also won a giant elephant,it was almost bigger than me. My favourite ride is the is the long ride,I go with my dad he always makes me go in front because he doesn't want to get wet. Then we go get mini donuts, they're my favourite.
ReplyDeleteI would really want to go to Heritage days. I hear that you get to try all kinds of food from different countries. The country I would really want to try would be Italy, because I love italian food. I hear that Heritage days are so fun so I would like to go there.
~masquerade
My favourite Edmonton festival is Capital-EX. My nana and my mom took me and my brother there. It is so fun. My nana want on one of the rides. and I've also been to Galaxyland. It is so fun. My favourite ride is the ship. It is so fun. My brother was scared of the ship. I was not. But when we want inside it was scared at first.
ReplyDeleteMe and my brother has been to capital-EX like four times.
~bubbles
I have never heard of Gay Pride and I have been to all of them.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite festival is capitail-x. My favourite thing to eat at capitailx are elephant ears and the mini donuts.
Once my dad won me two pocket bikes. I have a black and red one we spent 100 dollars on mini donuts and elephant ears. My favourite ride there is the Drop of Doom. It is the funeist ride there beside the fire ball. My favourite part about Capitial x besides the food is the fire works me and my dad sit on the roof.
donkeycheese
I have been to Capital X and it is so cool!.
ReplyDeleteThe reason I like Capital X is the rides and the other thing that I like is the mini donuts. Not to mention that the mini donuts are the best!
Seeing how I have only been to capital X then that means that I have no least favourite festivals and that is good.
The place that I wish to go to is Capital X because I love the mini donuts and if I don't get to have mini donuts, then I get mad. I also love the rides and I wish that everything there was free.
- black belt ninja
I have only ever went to two festival and it was Heritage Days and Taste of Edmonton and if I could I would go to Capital X.
ReplyDeleteI like Heritage Days because I get to try many different foods. I also like Taste of Edmonton because I can try all the food in the world.
~Supercheesey
I never been to Capital-Ex. My step mom and step brother have been to Galaxyland. We have been on the ship and the blue rollercoaster. I have been on the Drop of Doom. I was scared on the ship because I feel like I was falling out of it. My big brother said you can sit by me.
ReplyDelete~sunshine
I have not been to the festival but I hear they are fun. My favourite ride is the boat it was fun it gave me the butterflies. It was at Galaxyland
ReplyDelete~candygirl
My favorite festival is K-Days aka Capital-X. I love the mini donuts/elafant ears. My favorite ride is the Drop of Doom and the Fire ball.
ReplyDeleteI think Gay Pride festival would be weird. I would go to Gay Pride just for the heck of it.
~monkeyman
I have been to Capital X because it was the first festival I went to.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite ride is Crazy Mouse because you spin super fast halfway on the ride.
I want to do the Chinise festeval.
~legoguy
Wow, bookfreak, you have been to more festivals than I have! Your post was really interesting, and it made me want to go to more festivals.
ReplyDeleteHeritage Days is like a festival I went to in Winnipeg called Folklorama. In Winnipeg different cultural groups set up venues all over the city and showcase their dancing, food, and other parts of their culture. You have to buy tickets to the venues because it is very popular. In fact it is so popular that tour buses bring people from other cities to 'do Folklorama'. They shuttle people from the other city to Winnipeg, and then from their hotel to different venues, all week long. Folklorama is a huge festival - there are often 60 venues running for a whole week.
Thanks for the post. I just might go to Heritage Days this year! :}
I love Capital-X i have been there once and would like to be there again :)
