French Plays

I think the French play was really fun.  I was really nervous when I was acting but it was okay in the end.  There was a lot of people watching and I didn't want to mess up my lines. I think it was cool even though you may not have known what they were saying.  We heard stories like:

1: The Three Little Pigs
2:  L’Arbre Ungali (a tree story)
3:  Louis La Grenouille (a frog story).

Here are some questions:

1:  Did you understand it?
2:  Did you like it?
3:  What was your favourite part?

My favourite part was the grade six play and our play (the grade 4 play). I played the third pig who liked to dance. I owned the house of bricks and obviously, it did not fall down.

Did your family like it when they were watching or if they didn’t, do you think they would like it?  Were you excited to watch the French play or would you rather watch trained actors act in English?

I was excited for the French play and I also like normal plays.  Some people find it weird for other people in the school to speak French.  Probably because they’re not used to it.  If you speak French then it would be cool to hear the stories and understand it.

Smoking

Smoking is bad for you.  The first reason is it can damage your lungs.  Second of all you get cancer.  Third thing is your teeth turn yellow.

I don’t know if they will stop making them one day.

I tell my dad to stop but he won't but he said he will stop next year which is long time away. Ask your dad if he will stop smoking. If not you're dad could end up in the hospital. I wonder if your dad smokes? Yes or no? Answer it.

You have a choice:

1) Yes

2) No

3) NEVER!!!
When you're older and you smoke its going to end badly, okay? If you don’t smoke like me you won’t end up getting cancer.   If you smoke and you do it once you can’t stop smoking if you like it. Don’t do it please.  Please do not smoke, okay?

Jobs

What job do you want to have when you grow up?

I know I want to be a veterinarian when I grow up because I want to help animals. I don’t know if I should be a veterinarian or a doctor or even a brain surgeon. The only problem with being a brain surgeon is you can save the person… or just kill them. One wrong move you will kill them plus you will need to go to school for like twelve years!!!

First you need to go to medical school then become a doctor then become a surgeon and then you need to find a doctor who will teach you the proper way of saving a person. And that is why I want to be a veterinarian. That way I can go into the open world sooner and not stay in school until I am like 36!!! Then I will be old and not young anymore.

There is lots of jobs that you do. Most people just have a job just so they can get money. But I am different. I will do it for money but mostly because I want to save peoples lives or animals lives.

A job is also an opportunity to do something with your lives. My mom always tells me do good in school, get good grades so you can get a good job and not work in Mcdonalds mopping the floors.

So what job do you want to have and why? Is it to get money or is it to help someone or save someone?

Spring Break - Two Weeks?

Having just come back from Spring Break, most of us are refreshed and ready to begin the last three months of school.  Believe it or not, April, May and June will fly by so quickly that it will be the last day of school before you know it.

Did you know there are some schools that get TWO WEEKS off for Spring Break?!?  These students got off a week before we did and then returned the same day as us (April 7).  You're saying to yourself aloud or in your head: Two weeks?!  That's not fair!  But students, as I have taught you in Science you can't get something for nothing.  Although this is not a force-distance trade-off, it is a trade-off.  In order to get two weeks at Spring Break, these students work on a modified calendar and start school in the middle of August.  That's right, August.  Hmm.

Imagine what you could do with two weeks off though.  That's enough time to go on a holiday without feeling guilty that you're missing out on school.  It's enough time to clean your room everyday for 14 days, 336 hours, 20 160 minutes or 1 209 600 seconds!  Wow, that's a lot of time.

Here's the big question then: would you be willing to trade losing a couple of weeks from summer vacation in August to gain a couple of weeks for Spring Break?

Keep in mind that the weather in the last weeks of August is pretty much guaranteed to be warm and sunny.  The weather during late March is unpredictable.  We could get two weeks off and it could be raining those entire two weeks.  If that's the case, then I'd rather keep all of my summer.

What are your thoughts?
