Have you ever stayed home because you weren't well enough to attend school? Our class had pretty good attendance towards the beginning of the year with many days of "Perfect Attendance." Lately, there have been days where we have had many students absent for any number of reasons. Also, we have had many other students attend late everyday.
Throughout my school career, I can count on ONE hand the number of days I've missed school because of illness. That includes four years of university. I grew up with parents who made me attend school. I wouldn't have been able to get away with not going to school, nor did I want to. However, it seems like these days students miss school for even the slightest reasons. Now I completely understand being sick and not being able to come to school. I wouldn't be able to concentrate either if my nose is stuffed with snot and I'm tired all the time.
But I've heard that sometimes students are allowed to stay home from school "just because" their parents are giving them a day off. Or sometimes, there are students that don't attend because they are on vacation DURING the school year.
Another topic that has to do with attendance is students who show up late. Now of course, there are always circumstances where we are late because of traffic or we slept in or the alarm didn't go off. These are very valid reasons and they can happen once in awhile. What concerns me is the number of lates. There are students that come in late EVERYDAY. Why does this happen?

I remember one time I missed school. In kindergarten I carried my little sister and the dining table and when we jumped I had to go the hospital because I had broken my ankle and I was really upset because we usually make cookies and pudding every Wednesday and when we got back my parents definitely were very angry.
ReplyDeleteIn grade 1, I was getting dressed and then I started crying because I had ran out of leggings and my mom didn't know why because I have way too many jeans and I rarely wore them. After that I had a really bad temper tantrum and my mom made me wear blue jeans and I did not enjoy it but I went to school anyways.
I think that it isn't alright for kids to miss school because they don't get the full education they need and because their parents might let them play video games and if you can play video games then you can go to school. I have never been alowed to stay home when I am sick because my parents want me to go to school so I learn loads of things.

I sometimes miss school because my sister and I watch Peppa Pig and I want to watch too. So I always waste my time by watching Peppa Pig. I love Peppa Pig that because I waste my time.

No I don't think it's good for students to miss school because kids must care about their education. No, my parents don't let me miss school because my parents want me to learn a lot because I waste my time of watching Peppa Pig and my mom gets angry.

Yes I have missed school for like ones or twice because of the bus. No I usually go to school because I love school and I don`t want to miss school. I always wonder why students miss school or been late because I guess I am not one of them.

Once I was getting ready for school until my mom said you should get off your clothes because it was snowing. But finally she said to my brother and sister you could go to school now but I was like why cant I go to school and she said because you are sick and I said really and she said yes so I stayed home and played Xbox.
ReplyDeleteAlso once I missed school because I was in Egypt. It was really fun. I went there for a whole month. I have only missed school sometimes because I usually have docter appointments.
I think its bad for people to miss school because they will not learn. I have missed school because I was on vacation in Egypt because I had to visit my Grans.

ReplyDeletehaving a stomach flu was the worst and was not fun at all! I definitely don't want to get other kids sick.
Sometimes l sleep in because my mom does not want an alarm clock in my room or she does not want me to wake up at 7:00. l usually wanted to wake up at 7:30 but that does not happen.
For some reason l don't know why students like to not go to school, except they
could be really sick then it's all right. Once l was a little sick so l went to
school. (For some reason some children hate school.)

When i was 7 years old we went on vacation to Jasper to visit my Grandpa for a week. When i was visiting my Grandpa we went to the top of a mountain then i went down the mountain. It was fun. My Grandpa was sick so we had to take care of him.

I think I was only missed about one day of school because I had a dentist appointment. Actually I think I might have missed one or two days of school when I was sick.

Yes I have been late for school. I have been late for school because I had a dentist appointment and being sick. This does not happen to me a lot.

YES I have missed school 4 times in my life because I would be sick. But even if I am sick I will try to go to school uness I have chicken pox or something. Because I like school especially math, it's my favorite.

I wonder what kids do when they don't come to school. Like maybe they are faking it just to play video games. Maybe they don't like school. Well I do!!!! But still it is not exseptable and it is unfair. My mom would never ever let me play video games and it would not be good for you. If you can move your thumbs and eat ice cream you are not sick. I think it is reasonable if you are on vacation so you don't have to be in the cold. But I don't think it is okay if they just skip school.

I think its ok to go on vacation but if you're just staying home its still ok. I missed school once because I went to Drumheller with my cousan.

I miss a day of school because my dad came to my home and said, "Can I bring Bunnyboo to a hotel for Bunnyboo to meet my girlfriend and her son." My said it is a good idea but it is a Friday." I said, "It is my Dad and I don't see so." Mom said, "Fine and you are definitely right."

I don't think it is good it's bad but if you are sick. I have a boy in my school. He got to go to Egypt for five weeks of school. He is gone the last week of school.

ReplyDeleteOne time when I was in Grade 4 I had to go to Banff and missed 2 weeks of school. It was the most coolest vacation ever.
Well last year this boy in our class missed school all most every Monday and the class was very worried about him. But what I started to notice was when it came close to the end of the year he definitely started coming to school.
Yes I have been late for school a few times because my mom always sleeps in and I try to wake her up.
NO I DO NOT THINK STUDENTS SHOULD STAY HOME FROM SCHOOL IF THEY EVEN HAVE A LITTLE SNIFFILL.

Yes I have missed school. One of the times I missed school was when I had a hernia. I had to miss for the whole day because of the surgery. There have been way more days I've missed, but that was the one that I didn't have a choice. I wonder about a lot of kids in my class who miss and why they miss.
ReplyDeleteI have been late and one of the reasons is because of my brother. At the last minute, when we're just going out the door he finally gets up! I can't tell if he's just being annoying or if he was asleep. I'm usually not late because it doesn't happen that often. I don't wonder why kids are late, at least not that often.

I've only started to miss school cause of a certain subject that is starting to ruin my life. Art! It demands to much from me so I have chosen to miss those days I have Art. If art was my only subject then ok but I have 10 other subjects to think about. It's causing me stress. I don't think you should really miss school but now I don't really care. Cause if I'm "sick" I can't get in trouble for incomplete art work. Sometimes you make poor choices and regret taking subjects cause your friend wanted to do it.It depends on circumstance tbh.
ReplyDeleteI'm always borderline late. Sometimes you are really tired cause you were trying to finish homework past the time for a good night sleep. Sometimes you leave a little later and there's traffic. Sometimes you're not in a rush and you wanna miss your first lesson.
School isn't just a place of learning. It's a place of torture. Half the stuff we learn is unnecessary. Not many people will need to know how to get the circumference of a circle. And these test rule our lives if we fail, life will only be tougher.
