Winter Break and a New Year

This is our first day back from two weeks of Winter Break.  It seems like Christmas was such a long time ago (last year, really) but it was just 13 days ago.  Although I enjoyed my vacation I am glad to be back at school, believe it or not.

My time off this year was pretty relaxing and quiet.  My husband and I were determined to spend Christmas by ourselves this year, choosing not to join in either of our family's celebrations.  Usually we would have to attend two different houses on the same night and eat two separate dinners.  But over the years, we've found that it just gets too much and too overwhelming.

Instead, we wanted to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day watching The Lord of the Rings trilogy.  This series is one of my favourites and I will never get tired of watching it.  At first we were going to watch the Harry Potter series but there are eight of those and we didn't think that we would be able to watch them all.  Besides, I think the books are way better.

On Christmas Eve we watched the first installment of the trilogy called Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.  Then on Christmas Day, we made a tasty breakfast of French Toast and bacon.  We then watched the other two movies in the trilogy.  Six hours later, we ate a dinner of chicken caesar salad.  I think this was the first year in a long time where I did not eat turkey on Christmas.

The new year always brings with it new expectations and resolutions.  This is a time where many people decide that they are going to change or improve their lives and make a declaration that they will stop or begin a certain activity.  Studies have shown that many people end up failing their challenges by the end of January.  I still want to challenge myself to drink more water and increase my nutrition but instead of making them resolutions where I will likely end up failing, I will just try to live a healthier lifestyle.

How was your Winter Break?  What are some things that you will challenge yourself to accomplish this 2019?

  1. My winter break was meh. I really missed school, but also kind of
glad we had a break. On Christmas Eve I went to my cousin's house then on Christmas day I spent the first half of the day at my moms. We opened presents and gave our cats treats and toys. The other half of the day I went to my dad's we opened presents and then went to my Grandma's house. My family from my dad's side was all there. We ate turkey, ham, deviled eggs, broccoli with cheese sauce and porgies. It was delicious.

Some things I challenge myself to do/stop doing are: Stop chewing my nails, get more exercise, hang out with my brother, stop fighting with my brother, try to do a cartwheel, do good on my spelling tests, get more friends, stop being aggressive towards people I don't like, hangout with friends outside of school, stop bragging that I'm taller then everyone, shovel the sidewalk in winter and water the plants in summer if we get any.

  2. Over the Christmas holiday I've been fairly busy.
We were planning to go to Calgary once but ended up going twice!
Usually we go to Calgary for these two reasons :
    1. to visit my cousins and family in Calgary
    2. to go skiing(usually in Nakiska)

Some of the things that I would like to improve on are:
    1. be less argumentative
    2. get along with my brother better
and 3. get better at typing and handwriting.
All of these new years resolutions will hopefully help me.
In February I celebrate something called Chinese New Year.
It is a time when you receive a small amount of money for good luck from all of your family and in total it is about $250 YAYYY!

  3. My winter break was really fun. I went skiing and I got back on January 5, 2019. On December 31, which was New Year's we drove to the legislature at nine and the fireworks were beautiful.

In 2019 I want to learn how to do a back hand spring, aerial, start drinking more water, eat all my food and stop saying sorry.

  4. Winter break was very fun but after it was done the next day...I was sad! But for now let's talk about my gifts! So these are the ones I got: a white board, four or more Lego sets, a feisty pet, an LOL doll sea shell surprise. I actually don't know what it's called! A...I don't know what else!

My winter break was okay just I was bored laying around, playing Fortnite with my big bro! We were going to go sledding but we couldn't because my Dad was busy! So now I'm going to make a new subject about my challenges! So first I want to go back to swimming, maybe gymnastics and that's all...unless I want to take a walk!

  5. I had so much fun on winter break. Here's what I got for Christmas: clothes and money ($60!).

I went on a sleep over to my friend's house and it was very
fun and I played video games.

My challenges is to listen more to my teacher.

  6. When I had my winter break I thought school was not here because when I got interrupted for school I was so mad I just wanted to play on my computer all day long.

I basically did nothing except play on my computer all day long. I was staying in for my break. I never went sledding ever after Christmas. I was staying inside because of the weather and how cold it is. Nobody would like a chilly weather.

I got lots of toys. I got a whoopee cushion for Christmas, those farting toys. I got a computer for Christmas. I normally watch videos on my computer. I also got new couches covered in wrapping paper. I opened it. I even slept on it because of how comfy it was. I got some video games for my Xbox 1 S on Christmas.

  8. My winter break is fun in Christmas. We just stay in our house. We did not go to any of friends house. My mom just cook some food and my mom invited some friends just little. In the new year we go to Ponoka. My mom's brother live there in the house and my cousin did go too. We sleep in the house for two nights.

My new year challenges is to study more and eat my vegetables. Some vegetables I like it but some vegetables are not great. Also, I want to always make my bed in my room because I always forgot to make my bed in the morning.

  10. My winter break was awesome! We had "multiple Christmas's" one at my Mom's house, one at my Aunt's house and one at my Grandma and Grandpa's house. I also read, played board games and video games.

My New Year's resolutions are no TV, no fighting with my brother, eat my food and never lie.
