Phones, iPads, computers, they're all useful for communication, games, alarms and reminders. But when they are used for the wrong reasons, they can cause life and death matters.
It’s important to know how to use your electronics. Right and wrong, good and bad, safe and unsafe. No matter what type of electronic you have, it’s important.
For example, let’s say you had been secretly texting with a “so-called little girl” whose avatar is named Tricky Tiger. One day she says to meet her by the front entrance of your school. She knows where you go to school because you told her all your personal information.
When you show up this ‘Tricky Tiger’ also shows up, and she isn’t so girly! In fact, it could be a grown adult who may cause harm to you.
What we learned from this story is that people may say that they are friendly and aren’t scary, which can be true, but you should NEVER trust a “friend” unless you can see their face.
There's other ways in which the internet is unsafe. Some people will make up lies about something or someone to get people to click on it. The more people click, the more money the liars make. And the more money they get, the richer they become.
How is this dangerous you ask? Well, sometimes the liars will say their “information” is about one thing when really it is about another. Sometimes that other thing can be hurtful, inappropriate or just plain wrong! An example would be “Come see what Taylor Swift said about Beyonce at the Hilltop Bar last night!” If you click on this link, it won't take you to an article about Taylor Swift. Instead, it will redirect you to a shopping site or one that asks for your personal information. Even though it isn't true, bad people will do anything for lots and lots of money.
What are the restrictions on your internet access at home? Describe a situation where you have provided personal information on the internet. Why do children need to learn about internet safety?

BLOGGER OF THE WEEK
Well I don't really have any restrictions except for I'm not allowed to go on Facebook, Twitter or Snap Chat. That's okay with me though.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was nine, this guy followed me and I thought it was my brother because they had similar usernames. (This was on Instagram). Since my account was private I accept their follow request. I decided to post a picture with my face and hair, that was a BIG REGRET. This guy commented "you're so pretty omg" yes that's what they said. I go weirded out because I thought it was my brother. I asked him and he said it was not him. I blocked that person immediately and made sure not to let anyone else but family follow me.
Students should learn about internet safety because if they don't they might get kidnapped, or even killed! It's sad how messed up this society is.

I am allowed to use the internet. At home I play with my mom’s tablet but sometimes my mom tells me to get out because its not safe the game I am playing.
ReplyDeleteI never put my information online because It is scary and could kill me because people can see what I put and could kill me if they are robbers. My mom or dad will never let me put information online because they protect me and protect my brother too. I never put information online because I know I could get in trouble or I could get killed.
Students need to know these because they could die or get grounded for life and for safety too.

At my house I have a computer and the only thing I'm allowed to do on it is coding unless I ask. Even if I ask the only games I can play are Age of War and Prodigy. I am restricted to everything else.
ReplyDeleteI have never given away information or went on a site that I'm not allowed to surf because I am restricted and I know what I should and should not be doing.
At school students have to learn about internet safety. This is because we should be aware of this as soon as possible. What if you got your parents into a pickle because you gave away their information? What would they think of you?
~something3000
At home when I find a new website I have to show my parents what it is. If it's good I'm allowed to go on the website but if the site is bad or unsafe I'm not allowed on it no matter what. If I go on a bad site without telling anybody I'd have to go to my room for three hours.
ReplyDeleteI've have given out personal information only when I trust the person or if it's my friend. I've gave out information last week in my school. I gave it to a person who trusted to not tell anybody else.
Students need to know about internet safety because if somebody hacks in to your electronics you should know how to stay safe or call for help. Internet safety is not just for fun stuff, it's for keeping you safe and connected to parents.

At home I'm allowed to go on the internet. My mom checks what I do sometimes. But most of the time I will tell her what I am doing.
ReplyDeleteI have never gave anybody my personal information.
Students need to know about the internet so that they don't give anybody their personal information or get them into a bad situation.

At home my parent allow me to go to any internet access, but even though my parents allow me to go to any internet access, I still only choose websites that are safe. But if I'm using my phone all day in the weekend they will ask me to read or do something else. Some of them I don't go because I don't know how to use it and I don't know if you need a personal account and people can check it like the blogger said.
ReplyDeleteI haven't provided a personal information on the internet yet because every time I'm curious how to use an internet access I asked my mom or may dad how to use it. I have a Facebook account but my mom and my dad know that I have one because they're the one who made it.
Children need to learn about internet safety because some of them might accidentally gave their personal account without their parents knowing or some of them don't know if that internet access has a lot of strange people that they don't know.
~QuirkySquirrel123
My Dad lets me go on The internet. I have no restrictions because my dad trusts me. I can go on any website I want.
ReplyDeleteI've never given anybody my personal information.
We should learn about internet safety to keep safe on the internet.
~thing1
At home I usually just watch YouTube and play games on my Ipad. I never go on to inappropriate stuff on the internet.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that I have ever given out personal information on the internet.
Kids need to learn about internet safety because if they ever do get on something bad or inappropriate they will have to know what to do. Younger kids would probably go on the first thing that they see, so they need to know what to do. They should just get off and tell a parent.
~Winona
My Mom and Dad doesn't really look at my stuff but sometimes my brothers see what I'm playing or watching and then they ask what I'm watching or playing almost every time. My Mom works all the time. She walks around almost everywhere. She might just tell me to shut it down right away!
ReplyDeleteAnyway I played a game that I saw on YouTube from DanTDM and so he played this game where you talk to random people and you can say ANYTHING! It's called Cleverbot ...DON'T PLAY IT!!!!! I'v played a game that is called Avakin Life but it's for thirteen year old people because it has online dating, swearing, and more because I forgot! I got banned from that game because I'm not old enough, but anyways I didn't know that was for thirteen year old people so I'm not going to sign in till I'm thirteen!
I know why you need to know how to learn about internet safety because you want to be safe because they might knock and hide then run in and kill someone! Oh right, and my Dad got a scammer saying his Microsoft computer had a problem so the guy asked for his password and he knew it was someone scamming him so he scared him like crap!

My parents don't let me go on bad sites because I would get in
ReplyDeletebig in trouble if I go on bad stuff or watching bad stuff. If I do all of that things I would never get my gadgets back.
Internet safety is good because we can learn about things we're not supposed to go on.
~shadowleo
I have never gave away my personnel information online. Plus, the only time I am online is in Minecraft. And the only ones allowed in my world are my Dad and his friend Dusty.
ReplyDelete~thing2
My dad lets me go on whatever site I want except for gross ones. When I watch my YouTube I watch it safely and play my games safely because I can be responsible for what I play and what I watch. I cant watch inappropriate stuff.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I got home yesterday I was watching YouTube on my computer. Even at night I stayed up mostly till 1 am and then went to bed, got a good sleep and then watched some Rocket League which is a video game that has cars and one ball that everybody goes for. When everybody goes for the ball the ball goes high up in the air. When this person/YouTuber scored on the other team he smashed his controller because it was an off the wall shot so that's why he smashed his controller and he has not one thing.
I have never gave out my personal information.
~tinyguy321
My parents do not have restrictions on my internet access because my mom and dad already know that I always go to YouTube.
ReplyDeleteI go to Google to search something. I would be searching words that I do not know or I do not know what it means.
I never give out my personal information. But I have a Facebook account but I do not really post. And sometime I post. My Mom and dad do not have a Facebook account but me and my brother have. If I have something to post my mom or dad check before I post it on Internet.
I do not give out information online. If I go to a game website and it asks me give me information I will click off.
Students have to learn not to give out personal information because if you give a personal information maybe the guy will have a gun. You think they are friendly.
~thebook
I am allowed to go on any website as long as its appropriate.
ReplyDeleteI only have given my email on a game to get an account on a game.
I think kids should learn about internet safety because it can be very dangerous. Let's say someone you don't know in real life but you know that person in the internet. That somebody said "Meet me at the old school on the corner."
~thebigbro
My parents only allow me to play electronics when my homework is completed except for Monday because Monday is my "Lazy-day".
ReplyDeleteAlso I would never give anyone my information unless I know who it is or I ask my parents first and then they check the site.
An example of a dangerous app is Roblox or Fortnite. A safer site is Terraria, Just Dance or Candy Crush.
It is very important to learn safety on the world wide web because for example let's say you have a friend on the internet but you don't know who it is.
~masterduelist1
I am allowed to go on the internet as long as I am supervised and not on inappropriate sites because if I do I could accidentally send my email or any information away.
ReplyDeleteI give out personal information only on games for good reasons but not on YouTube and bad games.
Students need to learn about internet safety because if not the kids can go on bad sites and end up getting hurt.
~thing2
At home on the internet I am allowed to go on anything that is not bad or that needs to be checked by my parents. My parents have to be very careful of us little ones and the big ones too. My mom but also my dad has six kids so the kids have to be very careful too. We also have six pets: two dogs, one cat, two birds, one skark, so it is hard.
ReplyDeleteMy accounts for the internet are only for Instagram and for Facebook too. I think that Snap chat is more dangerour than Instagram or Facebook.
I have never give away my information accidentally to anyone.
Instead if it is my dad or my mom, I have to give out what I'm doing on the internet to my parents.
~silly19
I have total access to the internet but I'm not allowed to go on inappropriate websites.
ReplyDeleteThere was a website that tells you if you're a boy or girl. I told them my eye colour.
