Twenty Twenty Four (2024) Is a New Year

Twenty twenty four is the start of a new year which makes many people excited.  It is a time to forget about what happened in the past and focus on a new beginning for many.  This is a time of the year that many choose to set goals and make resolutions.  Research has shown that at least one third (about 33%) of adults will make a New Year's resolution, but only 10% keep them.  Some of the most popular resolutions with adults are to eat healthier, save money, and lose weight.

Do you think kids should make New Year's resolutions too?  You might want to call them goals and forming good habits.  What does it take to achieve success when you make a decision to do something?  Some good habits for kids to form are such things like:

- drink water or another healthy beverage every day

- try a new physical activity to do at least three times a week

- try to be friendly to kids who may have a hard time making friends

- save time to read for fun

- choose an activity other than playing on electronics

Other goals for kids may be related to schoolwork.  What are some of the good habits that you think would be appropriate to try to achieve this year?

  1. Goals are things that you make sure you achieve any day of the week. My opinion of goals is that there are impossible things you want to do.

My first goal is answering my friends calls. They always get mad when I pick up. They complain because I didn’t pick up before. I do not like it when they get mad. My second goal is making twenty cupcakes so I can always have dessert with me to eat. I am very selfish so I need that as a goal too. That is all my goals for this year. I hope i will get to achieve them

  2. Personally I believe that goals, resolutions, and habits are a great thing to practice. Even if you like yourself as a person and believe that you are doing well you can always make yourself a little better, even if you have a small goal.

My biggest goal is to make a dessert or meal once a week. I am already quite a good cook and know how to, but I don't really cook when I don’t need to. If I cook something it is usually a small thing like waffles or grilled cheese. But if both of my parents stay late at work I can get supper ready or started.

My second goal is just a little one for a game that I play called Pokemon GO. Last year, I got 50 of these special, rare, and different looking Pokemon called shinies. I only started playing the game about six months ago and still got 50 shiny Pokemon. So this year I am hoping to get around 80 shiny Pokemon in 2024.

  3. I think that goals and building good habits resolutions have their pros and cons. I personally have never made a new years resolution but I have had goals that I have set in the past for example, working out with my mom at least three times a week for at least two hours and I made that goal about a year ago and I still haven't failed that one except when I’m on trips.

Some very common goals that I see in kids are, eat less junk, stay off the electronics, and more. If you´re wondering why I’m not doing adults common goals it's because if you scroll down to THE BIG HAM´s post you will see all the common goals that adults set. WINK;) WINK;).

I'm going to make sure I achieve my goals like eat less junk and get to junior high which will happen no matter what in a few years. Some people and when I say that I mean, 30% of adults make new year's resolutions and only 10% keep them and actually work up to them. This year I didn't write mine on paper, I wrote mine in my head. I very much also think that we should not make new year's resolutions because some people tend to push their body too hard for goals like, start lifting weights. So I think we should make goals as we go.

  4. Bam, crackle, pop! Amused faces and busy minds fill the world. The new year has begun, and New Year’s resolutions are being made. Many adults make goals for themselves but unfortunately only ten percent succeed. My teacher asked us our opinion on kids making New Year’s resolutions, and I think that kids should be able to make small resolutions, instead of groundbreaking ones. Three popular resolutions are to lose weight, quit smoking, and diets.

My biggest goal is to stop putting things in my mouth. Ever since I was a baby I liked to bite things that I was not supposed to put in my mouth. To help, I want to start buying gum to chew instead. For now I will try to resist it. My second goal is to properly learn how to knit and crochet things. My mom has a crocheting kit, and I have knitting needles. Since I already know how to knit I want to be able to make a blanket. I want to knit a blanket for my new baby cousin, and crochet a toy for them too.

  5. I think that resolutions are a good idea for those who have bad habits or because they would like to try something new. Children might be more or less capable of completing their goals then adults, but I think it just depends on who the person is or their personality.

My goals for twenty-twenty four are to save money. Because during 2023 as soon as I got my allowance and I saw something cool, I immediately spent my money. This year I will try not to spend any money at all, so I can save up for something big. I will do this by putting all my money in a plastic bag, and give it to my mom. Hoping she does not spend it, of course. So, on January 1st, 2025. I will ask my mom to give me back my money. That is how I will set my goal.

  6. I think that New Year goals or resolutions are important for kids to learn. It can help kids and even adults learn and correct what they think they should improve on or what they think they did wrong. Not many people keep their resolutions, but it is still important for you to know what you think you should get better at. I have two goals that I would like to complete.

My first goal is to get better at baking food and desserts. I love to bake and cook, but I want to stretch my abilities. In my opinion I think cooking and baking is a good way to use your mind. There are many measurements that you will need to know in order to get a good cake or food, but my favorite part is eating everything I make.

My last resolution is to get amazing at art. I think I’m really good at art and drawing, but there is always room for improvement. It has been my dream ever since I was young to be a great artist. It’s a good way to express your feelings and share your creativity. Also you get lots of complements!

  7. My thoughts about New Year's resolutions is that people should set goals so they could maybe be stronger and healthier. It is good for kids to set goals so they will be stronger when they grow up and have a good mind set. You should set goals!

I think my goals are not to go on my tablet as much and instead do art or play with my dog. Also I could play downstairs, I have a lot of lego down there and I like to play with it. Also another goal I should try is eating healthier because it is good to eat food that is good for you. I could try eating a salad and eggs. I love eggs, they are so good!!

Making goals is good for you so you are healthy and strong! All you have to do is put your mind to it !!!

  8. Lots of people make New Year's resolutions. Some of the most popular resolutions are losing weight, eating healthier or to stop smoking. I think childrens resolutions should be to handle needles better. (My mom says I should resolve to handle needles better.)

I made one in 2023 to not chew my nails and I lasted about one and a half months before I started chewing my nails again. This year I didn't make any New Year's resolutions because I know I won’t be able to keep it the whole year. This year my parents made my brother resolve to not cry when he loses a board game and he already failed (:

  9. I think everybody should make New Year's resolutions, even kids. And some people make New Year's resolutions and they don’t plan and they don’t try. So they do it for a week and then they stop. And some people complete their New Year's resolutions.

My two goals or my New Year's resolutions are learning how to cook or getting really good at singing. Even though I am already really good at singing I want to get better. I am also really good at cooking. I want to be a cook or a chef when I grow up. I love helping my mom cook. Hopefully I can get to do all these things. There is a cooking class near my grandma's house. And I want to take singing lessons.

  10. I think goals are a good thing in life. Kids have a good imagination like me, that's why I think kids should have goals. At least 10% of adults every year fail on their first week of trying new goals. I try every year to achieve my goals but I usually don’t stay for long.

This year for my goal(s), I would like to work out more this year because my parents are always using the treadmill and I always want to use it. So that's why I would like to work out more. Even though that's my only goal, I'd like to start some new ones like saving some more money for things I want to get or maybe I can get things for poor people.

Those are my goals for 2024.

  11. I think that goals are good for kids because kids can be anything they want to be.

I think we should drink more because your body needs more water. And we need to eat food because we need to eat and if we do not eat then we get hungry.

My first goal is to be a singer because I think that I am good at singing. But sometimes I am very very shy at singing in front of people. When people say you can do it, that means I still can not do it because when people say it I think I am not good.

My last resolution is that I want to improve at art. I really like art. I like how there are different colors, patterns and the shading. I think that lots of people are good at art.

  12. My thoughts on kids New Years resolutions is that kids should make resolutions, habits, goals, and achievements because they should learn how to make choices for themselves and take responsibility. The most popular achievements are quitting smoking, eating healthier, and losing weight. These are not the only goals you can make. But honestly those are all good achievements. Not all people keep their resolutions. Lots of people forget, quit, and some people don't even try. Which is really disappointing. But sometimes people think it's hard to achieve these easy goals. I don't think it is though, but I respect other people's opinions. Always remember that resolutions are important.

I have 4 goals for this year, 2024! One of them is to eat healthier because I am very picky, but I only like certain foods. Another one of my goals is to exercise way more. I should make a little exercise area in my room. I also really want to start doing chores and make an allowance. I also want to save money to buy something. If I save enough money I want to buy a house! Hehe. Those are all my goals for now… What are some of your goals for this year?

  13. I think children should have new year’s resolutions, in fact I have a couple. I think it would build a healthy habit of trying to keep their goals. This year I have five resolutions and am thinking of more. Giving kids something to improve at and practice at keeping their New Year's resolutions.

I try to keep my New Year’s resolutions with a technique. I call it the calendar chain. You take a calendar and cross out every day you do your resolution, and I hate when I break a streak. I also try to start in February so that I can try and build a habit of doing them. I’ve heard that it takes about two weeks to build a habit.

Now I have a few New Years resolutions and I have two favorites. #1 keeping my bedroom clean, and #2 eat a little less candy. The three most popular resolutions are: losing weight, working out more, and quitting smoking.

  14. This year I’m making two New Year's resolutions and my goals are to NOT BE CRINGE aka weird and eat healthier. I think I’m weird because I say this: hee-a hee-a hee-a hee-a hee-a!!! So yes I’m weird but I can get WEIRDER THAN THAT because I make sounds in class and I say: meep, eek ooooofffff and v huh. And I wish I wasn’t cringe and I’m making a resolution about it. Every year I get MORE CRINGE and I want to stop being cringe for at least 1 hour which I’ve done before but only once and that was in a car drive. Even when I’m asleep I’m still weird.

But I think everyone of all ages should make a New Year’s resolution and try to keep… well if they can. I also want to eat healthier because I don’t like getting heartburns. I should try more foods and I usually avoid food with vegetables but I really shouldn’t do that. I can’t eat unhealthy foods like chips, cookies and bread forever anyways and even if I do I’ll get sick and get multiple diseases and I don’t want THAT so that’s why I should eat healthier.
